Zach,
with that non sequitur we can safely assume you are as intellectually gifted as Parish's "baby momma". Your comment on lesbians was a pretty good hint.

Bradshaw wanted to come to LSU but didn't have the grades.
100% correct. He's a lifelong Tiger fan.

None went to LSU. But the Best died in Viet Nam Trey Frazer I believe was his name and he was coming to LSU before he died.
His name was Trey Prather.Terry Bradshaw said he was the best QB he had ever seen.Bradshaw followed Prather at Woodlawn.I talked with a fellow from Shreveport at an LSU game when Joe Fergerson was QB at Woodlawn. He told me that Fergerson wasn't going to sign with LSU because of the way Trey Prather was treated when he was at LSU.Turned out he knew what he was talking about as Fergerson signed with Arkansas.McClendon didn't like to throw the football.Bear Bryant told McClendon that he had an All-American setting on the bench in Mike Hillman.I remember when McClendon was forced to play Hillman and Hillman set the passing record at the Peach Bowl against Florida State.McClendon was a nice guy who loved LSU but had a head like concrete.Paul Dietzel was brought in as athletic director to fire Mac.The chant around LSU was "Help Mac Pack."

Bradshaw couldn't spell his name correctly which was a big reason why he didn't go to LSU

That's pretty accurate, aglandry.
Prather's coach, A L Williams had experimented with a pro set passing offense and when Prather was recruited by Mac , Mac promised to throw the ball more. He didn't. Prather became disillusioned, with LSU and was in Viet Nam an dead within months.
The Woodlawn coaches , who had moved to a total pro passing offense with Ferguson(35- 40 passes per game)never forgave Mac and LSU for Prather's demise.
Booty came after Ferguson and broke all of Bradshaw's records, but not Ferguson's (who had started for three yrs.).
Ferguson, Bradshaw and Booty were all also track stars, but Booty was the best all round athlete.

@jeffsdad: Did you play on the 1968 state championship team, or the year after?
One of the best high school games I ever saw was Woodlawn vs. Shreve with Johnny Booty quarterbacking the Knights and Denny Duron the Gators. Back when Shreveport high school football was strong.

Zach, why bring the negativity? Being the best athelete and being the best qb are two different things. besides, johnny decided he had a more important calling.
It's called history. John Booty was no where near Bradshaw, Ferguson or Prather as an athlete. So, I'm merely correcting your assertion. How's it goin', John?

I do recall Booty signed with Arkansas but later transferred; maybe to Miss. State? He was first team all-state one of his years at Woodlawn.

Booty broke the chain. Prather, Bradshaw, Ferguson. Booty was supposed to be next great QB out of Shreveport. He sucked. He went into preaching like Denny Duron. They both made a lot of money for the Lord. God bless em.

Doubt it. It was all the Lord's money in the first place!

I guess the 1973 Shreve team was the last public school state champion from Shreveport, correct?
Meant to add the Shreve quarterback was fortunate to be there; having Carlos Pennywell and Rod Foppe to throw to.
Regarding, Robert Parish, I recall seeing a game in the Gold Dome against nationally ranked Houston where he was fouled while shooting as time expired. Make one free throw and he tied the game; make both an the Gents win. He missed both. Houston had Louis Dunbar from Minden, later "Sweet Lou Dunbar" of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Yep, I was there. The more horrific game was against Texas the year before. Do you recall the name Percy Penn?
He was an official who went to U.T. Centenary was beating the shite out of UT and Percy went to work on calling fouls. The cops had to escourt him out of the gym.

ULL cool - nope the next few years. yes, that game was a great one. Johnny was also very good in baseball and track. He could have probably gotten a scholarship in baseball but chose to concentrate on football. Fastest person on team.
Billy Laird, Prather, Bradshaw, Ferguson, Booty - quite a good list.

Hell he had a problem with all tests. My uncle went to tech back when ol bradshaw was there. He said terry sat in the back of the class and slept or clowned around.
All his test were oral tests and the reason being he could not read that well and when an answer was wrong the other person would write in the correct one.
Take all this with a grain of salt I wasn't born yet just passing on what was told to me by my dad and his older brother.

Zach,
Having trouble following this, are you?
I am stunned.
Yes, Booty "sucked".
He broke all of Bradshaw's records and was first team All American in HS at QB and one of the most highly sought after recruits in the country. He starred in baseball and track, as well.
So, whatever Booty did to you , forget it.
It's been 40 yrs.
You come across as bitter and uninformed, if not just stupid.

I think Byrd won it in the early 90s with Arnaz Battle at QB

My dad played running back at WHS and always told me the same story about Prather and why he went to Nam. Also said that is why Joe went to Arkansas. Dad followed Bradshaw to Tech for the same reason Bradshaw went to Tech
