Unfortunately, much of our lesser-informed fan base's image of a "dual threat" QB is forever tarnished.
Problem is, Jordan was never a "dual threat", coaches tried to make him one. And thats the reason fans get in an uproar when we were offerring black qbs, cus they automatically assume they are run first qbs. Youd hear the, miles got his jj crowd.
Which is just bs.
Just last cycle, rettig was the qb every one wanted. Wasnt til peoole watched jennings videos and this spring that they felt he was the better prospect.

so when most think dual threat here in LA, we think oh god not this crap again...Im sure most of us would love to have the guys on your list.. (esp Kapernick)but we dont seem to make great decisions with Dual threat QB's (alas Bench R. Sheperd, but start a guy like JJ..)
You are exactly right. I lobbied for him and he was truly a horrendous QB. That image of JJ has tarnished and has almost put a shadow of any possible DT QB coming in, to be ridiculed even before taking a snap. Dual threat QBs are the norm now and way more common in the college game. Defenses are getting bigger and faster and you need guys to react quicker and moving outside the pocket to make a play has been the pinnacle of success recently. Doesn't matter your background; white, black, mexican/hispanic/latino, samoan, it's a trait that is being developed into these QBs now.

I want the best possible players in the positions that are best suited for them. Now that Cam is here, my fear has diminished (somewhat) that we will see class warfare (jr's sr's getting the benefit of their tenure), and favoritism on the offensive side of the ball. Dead horse, I know, but miles embarrassed himself so badly on 1-9 for sinking with JJ. If a kid doesn't have "the chest" to come to LSU because he may have to compete against quality depth- " don't let the door hit ya in the arse".

Do you think the 5+ WR's we're looking to get in 2014 will be iffy about playin with a QB looking to run first?
Ya, I see no wide receiver wants to go to TAM because of Manziel. Dude, Dual threat QBs make life easier for wide receivers.

isn't johnny football considered a dual-threat qb? and texas a&m recruited like 15 wr's none them were too concerned about him not getting the ball into their hands.

I had 4 miserably long years of a "dual threat" qb, and it was almost more than I could bear. If you give clm an excuse to run the ball w/running backs as well as a running qb, look for more receivers to go early in the draft. Remember Reuben Randle and his choice to leave early, and better yet what prompted it ?

Name a good WR that doesn't go early. Go on name one. If that's too easy then two. Your statement is stupid for the fact that good WRs don't stay their senior year. I listed a shite ton of good QBs over the past five years who have did great and provided 900-1000yd, to 1800 yards to #1 receivers. Miles tried to fit an octagon into a pentagon, JJ was a thrower (not passer) who had horrible decision making skills and awkward running style. Miles turned him into an option QB and the rest is history. Cam will not be for that shite at all.

Great list except for one notable exception

Exactly why I feel we need a QB that can pass exceptionally well but can run if needed. I think Mett does well in the pass part of it but he is a mobile as a granite statue... I was surprised to see him execute some roll outs in the Spring Game and even more surprised that he called those plays...
