Football Transfer Portal Targets

Obviously Coach O, Pelini, and the rest of the staff will need to take a hard look at the current roster during the Spring, but I can see us using at least 2 spots for grad/eligible transfers.
Keep in mind that these are players that are VISIBLE on the transfer portal as of 2/5/2020. More players will enter within the next few months, and more JUCO players will pop up on the radar as well. Graduate transfers will be the more attractive options as they are eligible immediately.I will update this as the portal changes.
Position targets:
Center
Inside/Outside Linebacker (although inside is more of a priority)
High Choice Targets at Linebacker:
Michael Harris ILB (Auburn) [2 years of eligibility if he does not obtain a waiver, must sit out 1 season]
6'2, 213lbs
Former 4-Star recruit in 2018 Class. Athletic backer that would fit quite well in Pelini's attacking defensive schemes.
Jordan Anthony OLB (Michigan) [1 year of eligibility remaining if he does not obtain a waiver, must sit out 1 season]
6'0, 220lbs
Former high 4-Star recruit in 2017 Class. IMG Academy grad, so that's always a plus. Run stuffer and exceptional open-field tackler. Could probably transition to inside backer as well.
Ariel Ngata OLB (Washington) [1 year of eligibility remaining if he does not obtain a waiver, must sit out 1 season]
6'3, 213lbs
short highlight clip
Former 4-Star recruit from 2017 Class. Huge frame with pretty good edge rushing ability. Vicious tackler. He may follow in his little brother's footsteps and head to Arizona State, but he would be a huge pickup for the Tigers.
High Choice at Center:
Liam Smith OC (Duke) [Graduate Transfer- eligible immediately. 1 year of eligibility remaining]
6'5, 270lbs
Former 3-Star recruit from 2016 Class. Keep in mind that centers rarely get high grades in recruiting. Large frame, and has years of snapping experience. LSU currently has a center in Charles Turner that is still not heavy enough for SEC play, and a converted guard in Chasen Hines. I believe in Hines, but the coaches may decide to look elsewhere if they're not confident.

you need to add if the candidate is immediately eligible for 2020 season play, or 2021 season

Good post and helpful information.

And anything from Michigan State? :)

Glad you did this.
I was too lazy to look it up

The problem with any of these or other transfers is the only ones guaranteed to be eligible for 2020 are the grad transfers. On all the others it's a roll of the dice, since they would have to apply for a waiver after they transfer unless the NCAA amends the rules.
The ideal would be a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining, but the Burrows of the world don't come around often.

We hit the jackpot 2 years ago.
Let’s hope luck is with us again

the graduate transfers will start entering the market soon. Between March and June, look for quite a few names at various positions to sign up for the portal.

Yeah imagine we didn't have an open spot for Burrow two years ago.

Need a left tackle with experience. Dare is the only one on the roster that has played that position

could always move Deculus over there, but I think his true home is Right Tackle. He has a ton of experience though.

I’m almost certain that more LB names will pop up, knowing that LSU is looking.

According to a recent 247 article on Turner he is up to 278 which is more than what this guy here weighs.

If that happened we wouldn’t have a whole year to clown Bama fans.
Coach O pulled a rabbit out of his hat.
I love Coach O!

I know we had Solid RB’s but we should at least take a look at Jatarvious Whitlow, he was very productive at auburn!

I think any of those guys would be a take, if nothing else to provide depth.

If LSU takes a graduate transfer from AU I will withdraw my family’s support from LSU including me, my brother my son and several grandchildren. Sorry, just how I feel.

So, with Coach O saying he's looking at the transfer portal for help at specific positions, would that prompt a player at another school to jump into the portal in hopes of getting that offer?
Would a player be able to communicate through back channels to gauge interest?
If I'm a stud OL or LB at a lesser school that wasn't highly recruited out of HS, I might see this as a second chance to get to the big time.
