re: Ensminger visits 5-star QB Caleb Williams

I think that Caleb Williams is anxious to know who Ed O will team up with Ensminger.
Not that I think the loss of Brady is irreplaceable cause I don't think that at all. As Brady brought the offense with him, sure, but Ensminger is the one who made it compatible for college football. It was a collaboration between the two of them with Ensminger having the power to say what went in the LSU offensive playbook and what didn't go into the LSU offensive playbook.
But that process of building a new playbook is long over and since then Brady made his presence known in the wide receiver room where he brought with him a lot of new innovative techniques to coach wide receivers. However, now that hs is gone, those new innovative coaching techniques will remain at LSU forever.

Do we think LSU might take both Williams and Nussmeier in the 2021 class?
I'm sure we would take both if both wanted to commit here. Nussmeier is just to good to pass up. But it isn't often that two QB's of that quality will both commit to the same school in the same class. When you watch Nussmeiers highlights, and the type throws he makes, he looks much more like a 5 star to me than the 4 star that he is currently ranked. If Caleb Williams commits first, then I would think that Nussmeier would look else where. Would love to get both though, and then with Parish and the two QB's we took in this years class, just let things sort themselves out.
With that many good quality young QB's battling it out, we should end up with at least one elite type QB and a couple good backups down the line.

They would absolutely take both but there is 0 chance both sign with LSU. It’ll be one or the other. It’s a sticky situation. Staff will have to play this in a way that doesn’t rub either kid the wrong way to where they’re not left standing with their dicks in their hands and no Qb.
Of course I’d want Williams but Nuss is no slouch.

don’t think it was as incremental and everyone says. He actually had a offensive line that could block this year and a receiving Corp that caught everything thrown at them. J
Yes and we have Brady to thank for that. The scheme matters when it comes to the OL and we see how well the WR drills he implemented worked.

Franks in no way compares to Caleb Williams. Caleb Williams is a real deal 5 star. I wouldn't worry about him being a bust like Franks.
Apparently you didn’t follow the Franks recruitment very closely. He told LSU he would sign and even recruited for them for nearly a year. Then, after LSU stopped recruiting other quarterbacks and the cycle was nearly over, Franks began to get cold feet and turned his attention to Florida where he ultimately signed. LSU was left without a high caliber quarterback and the program was set back a little bit. Fortunately he did spurn them at the last minute, otherwise Joe Burrow would never have fallen into their lap. But my point was that you half to take in account that something like that could happen and keep another high quality quarterback in your back pocket just in case.

The most important and overarching philosophy that Brady brought to the offense was to attack the defense’s weakness and teach the QB, RB, and WRs to recognize how to attack that weakness.
Okay, you’re going to stack the box? We used to respond by bringing an extra back in. Now we respond be putting an extra back out and expose the defense.

that really has absolutely nothing to do with Caleb Williams.

my point was that Franks really wasn't that good a QB and we were lucky he backed out and signed with Florida. Who knows if we even land Burrows if Franks comes here, but this isn't that show timeless with a time machine where the past timeline can be changed and we find out what happens. I have to think that Coach O would have pursued Burrow regardless of what happened with Franks.
I will say this though in regards to "carrying a high quality QB in your back pocket" is that high quality QB's tend to not sign with the same schools in the same class (but in some cases they do)
