I never knew Coach O accepted an offer from LSU and enrolled... transfered because they wanted to change his position
Grew up a Tiger fan...
Great read thus far...

Read that years ago. Was definitely a good read for those interested in recruiting. Makes it seem like they were much closer to landing Joe McKnight than anyone thought

Its an awesome book. I remember reading it a second time after we hired Frank Wilson...you really get to understand how close those guys are, and get excited about them putting the fence back over Louisiana.
Coach O didn't win a lot of games at Ole Miss but man his coaching staff could recruit for days, and a lot of those names on his staff you will recognize in the book.

Loved that book!!
It is a must read for any recruiting fan
Red Bull sales in Baton Rouge probably increased immensely when Coach O was hired!

Yes he was..
and Wilson of course
Drake Nevis was committed to Ole Miss before LSU came knocking with an offer.. (I didn't recall that)
Lots of names LSU fans will recognize in this book

I'm curious if the book tells about the mood of the river center when Joe announced he was going somewhere else? It was a death blow to the atmosphere of the place.

It doesn't really go into that. Focuses more on Coach O and Ole Miss's perspective.
It's been a while since I read the book, but one of the more interesting stories is Ole Miss and Mississippi State were both after an instate running back that the Rebels thought they had in the bag and at the last minute the coaching staff hears that he had changed his mind and his headed to State. Frank Wilson and a few coaches literally camp out in his driveway to try and convince him to not sign with State haha
Great read, but obviously doesn't go into the dirty side of recruiting, like bag men and such
