The LSU staff is making a big push on the recruiting front over the next couple days, bringing in prospects from all across the state to visit with the coaches in Baton Rouge one final time before August's NCAA dead period kicks in, meaning no more face-to-face contact with recruits.

On Friday, one of the multiple visitors expected onto campus will be Marrero (La.) four-star Donte Starks, who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 middle linebacker prospect in the country for the 2019 class.

Starks is also already ranked as the No. 20 overall prospect in the class, regardless of position. He's ranked as the No. 3 player in a Louisiana recruiting class that appears to be deep with talent across the board.

Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State and more than 15 other programs have joined LSU with an early scholarship offer for the rising junior at John Ehret, though he's yet to name any leaders. The lone Crystal Ball predictions made so far are in for LSU.

Stay tuned to Geaux247 throughout the day as we bring you more on Starks' visit, plus news on other recruits in Baton Rouge.

I have been harping on this kid for the last month.

Will see him go against West Monroe and Slade Bolden on September 1st.

The young man moved from Mississippi BACK home to New Orleans sometime between the end of last football season and the end of the school year last year.

So, my logic is that if he moved back to his home-state, he wouldn't turn around and leave it when one of the best D-Coordinator's and Defenses in College is calling his name 30-40 minutes away in Baton Rouge.

He gon B a Tiger. I bet that Baw.

I'm just happy to see the state of Louisiana finally turning out some stud linebackers. Seems like we always had to convert safeties or go out of state to find them.

Yes, and this young man is a missile at linebacker to boot. Excellent athlete with super range from the Middle-Linebacker position.

I just hope Bolden gets the best of him first

Moving safeties was a Chavis thing. He like his linebackers to be fast, with good coverage skills (three down linebackers) and converting safeties was a great way to achieve that.

Here's an article I found regarding Chavis' philosophy. LINK

If only logic applied to the decisions of 18 year old kids.

Good point, but I will hold out hope.

He did move home for a reason. Hope that reason stays the same after the next couple of years at least if not for another reason to stay.

at this point, if you are a linebacker in Louisiana and have a chance to play for LSU and choose to go elsewhere, what the frick are you thinking?

LSU linebackers are on fire in the NFL.

Linebacking code a huge priority under Aranda's D. Who doesn't love having freak athletes prowl on that side of the ball!

Someone paying attention I see.

Best class in LA probably ever.

West Monroe also has a defensive tackle that will be top 10 in Dalvin Hutchinson and a defensive end in Andrew Gleason who will be a top 15 DE himself.

Loaded across the board.
