He won a title in 2007. shite Crowton was even the OC. That alone should show the program is capable under Miles.

In 2007 thank God Crowton kept Fisher's offense, because if he had put in his offense instead, then we would have probably lost 5 games in 2007 and never came close to winning a national championship.

I could just as easily argue that all of it stemmed from QB play so horrid teams were putting 8-9 in the box. It's one of those which came first situations. I'm not saying the OL was a dominant force but it was far from the swiss cheese abomination/scapegoat that this board makes it out to be. The QB play was worse than the OL play.

Actually the offensive line stunk it up big time and last year made two years in a row that Crowton royally screwed up quarterbacks.

right. he's just propping his feet up in his office and getting that local home grown Louisiana talent while barely having to do any work at all. he's just grillin' brats right?

With the significant upgrades in the facilities at LSU, LSU’s famous fan base, all the acclaim that LSU received thanks to the MNC in 2003, the storied tradition, and the fact that Miles is probably the most incompetent coach to ever luck into such a loaded elite football program in history, I don’t care how much of a doofus he is, LSU is still going to attract solid recruits on the aforementioned attributes for awhile in any event. Nevertheless, if Miles is such a good recruiter, then please explain the last two seasons relative to the first three seasons.

not even making an attempt to recruit out of state because EVERYONE just WANTS to live in Baton Rouge. kids from florida, georgia, tennessee, virginia, ohio, etc. just have nowhere else to go and are just dying play football at LSU because we are the fricking mecca of college football. that's just great to fricking know.

Actually, the out of staters we attracted came to Baton Rouge because of LSU’s very strong national reputation and past laurels, but with a few more seasons like the past two, and even LSU’s past reputation won’t be strong enough to make up the difference anymore. I mean if you continue ranking number 112 in total offense with the enormous amount of talent LSU has on its team, and you won’t even attract the lowest of the low.

no shite all of the guys from florida, tennessee, and ohio just don't have any tradition or recent success to keep these guys at home.

The out of state guys came based on reputation: two national championships in recent years, but after another couple of years like the past two, those out of state guys won’t even give us a second look no matter who is the coach. In any event, in your opinion and considering all the talent we have on this team according to you thanks to Miles, how did LSU finish number 112 on offense?

I think it is very possible that we could answer all of the outstanding questions that we have in a positive way and still fall short of winning the West.

If I see a slightly improved defense, and a markedly improved offense, then I'll be satisfied even if Bama ends up winning the West.

I forgot we were going into our third straight year os something as a 100+ offense.

A lot of LSU fans are fricking stupid. We finished #17 last year and had the third best SEC record. Everyone knows the perfect storm of shite that went wrong in 2008 and in 2009 we still had a good season despite the horrible OL play that ruined any chance at some sort of rushing game.

Also JJ is a game manager that will make plays rolling out of the pocket and off of playaction. He is not a true drop back passer that is just going to be to carry the team like that.

1. Not many SEC teams have that type of QB.
2. LSU doesn't have a guy capable of starting at the moment that can fo that. Jefferson is the best answer at QB.

1. yes.

2. And we will finally have senior QB's in 2011.

They may actually compete for the national championship in 2011, even if Zach Lee is pitching in the MLB.

Not only that, while there is clearly a very tough schedule, with probably 5 ranked teams
NC, WV?, BAMA, FLORIDA and ARK

LSU could beat them all in 2010. I would enjoy seeing Les Miles team go up against the Boise State wanna be's in the National Champ game. Aside from the torn up field, Miles has done very well preparing teams for the bowl games and even that one went down to the wire.

After winning a BCS National Championship Miles gets at least a 5 year pass. No one has ever been fired after winning the BCS in 6 years or less.

Larry Coker come to mind? Hired for 2001 season. Fired Dec 2006. That's 5 years if my math is correct.

I don't see all the bashing for the baseball coach after he screwed up this team after winning the College World Series. Why would you "understand" for one and not the other.

Mile will have the TIGERS back. Bank on it.

All you bashers need to Shut the frick Up and quit bitching about OUR Teams and support them.

I bashed Trent for a while and then decided, what the hell, support him, or at least give him a fair chance.

If Les gets past 2010, my guess is he'll be here much longer than 1 year.

my guess is les won't be here one day longer than it takes for lsu to raise his buy out. apparently there will be no qb change, no off co-ord change, and no change in general offensive schemes. lsu's direction will be crystal clear early next year

Hell, I saw a complete change in the offense during the spring game.

Then why did we get in a bidding war with Memphis to keep Stud here?

We didn't get in a bidding war with Memphis over "Stud the Dud." Stud didn't get a pay raise in order to keep him. LSU couldn't afford to fire him at this point since he like Crowton have multiple year contracts.

You obviously haven't heard about the double secret bank account with the buyout money waiting in it for me to give the go ahead.
