RJF would have stayed in state too...
PJ probably would have too...
Greg Shaw maybe also...
PJ was after we won the MNC. If we have that good of a year this year, I would hope we get a reward from that as well.
RJF, South Florida was the main competition for. And that was BEFORE Lane got to LSU.
Shaw, Miami wasn't hard after for some stupid reason.

We got Shaw from Florida State and West Virginia.

RJF had the grade situation of Eddie Lacy so the big boys in Florida didnt go after him

Earl Lane got commitments from 3 guys that are still on the team.

i am not surprised at sammich's racism in this thread. he's had it out for me and the entire asian race since he thought william ming was a possibility. frick you sammich.

its just wrong how he's doing you. tiger tap got to change names, call anyone who disagrees with him a pedophile, had a 5,000,000 bit sig gif for 6 months and now he is just slurring more racism than Hank Aaron.

I believe he committed before we won
either way, he didn't decide over night... he was interested in us after we lost to hapless Kentucky ...and was obviously close to his commitment when we got Peyton Hillis-ized all over national TV against Ark to close our season at home and seemingly dash our National Title dreams

He was also at the UF game, and I think that's what sold him on LSU.
If we beat UF in another game like that this year, I think we can turn a bigtime national guy. I'm just not sure who it would be, and even if we have the room right now. This class is pretty close to full.

thats right, the Florida game sold peterson on LSU. the florida game this year could very well bring us one recruit. the concern I have is that without Lane we won't get any or enough of the south florida national recruits in the stadium in baton rouge to get one of them.
we need to get them in the stadium. who can do that?

Maybe we can put a plaque outside Tiger Stadium showing Lane's possible recruiting successes.

the D-Line sucked after S&C GA Jimmy Brumbaugh went to LaTech to be an asst coach to Dooley
I met him last weekend at a 10&U baseball tournament. He had great things to say about his time at LSU. He is also very high on Dooley. He seems to have a good future in coaching.

Yeah, it's just been confirmed that Lane was, in fact, the only person who can or ever will be able to recruit kids in Florida.

the facts are that Brick has swung and missed badly this year as far as procuring the DL talent in recruiting...yeah, it's not over for the year yet but by taking some of these no-name recruits it is pretty easy to assume none of the big shots are seriously interested in LSU ..even neighboring state MS has some highly rated DLs we're not seriously in on ..that's not good
I remember when we used to get anything we wanted out of MS and had a strong presence in FL ...the last two years that has not been the case
If we lose our presence in FL that's a very very bad thing IMO ...I would almost argue it's worth having an expert on the staff who can recruit that state well, it's that important...and I think we should take a kid from FL every year to keep relations good... out of 25 kids a year, I can promise you we would not be hurting taking at least 1 or 2 a year from that state... plenty of top caliber players to go around
any year we don't get a kid from the panhandle, Tampa/Lakeland area or Miami/So, FL area is a mistake IMO
It seems like Les wants to have a bigger presence in Georgia now than FL

And he's the one being paid millions a year to evaluate talent, hire talent evaluators, and win games.
But you're the one who really knows what's going on.

There has been one no-name recruit taken on the DL. You make it sound like there have been six or seven. And that guy was apparently chosen over more heralded prospects like Cassius Marsh and Byran Jones who have expressed interest in playing for LSU. Maybe he will be much worse than those two, maybe he will be much better. We can only speculate, but it's not like LSU had no other options.
How has Brick missed badly? Is it because LSU hasn't gotten commitments JR Ferguson, Jackson Jeffcoat, William Gholston, Fre'shad Hunter, and Garrison Smith? When did LSU routinely sign national prospects from talented states that were hundreds of miles away, and who had no personal connection to LSU or the state of Louisiana?
In the last 5 or 6 years, LSU has signed Barksdale, RJF, and a ton of talented guys from LA.
