the facts are that Lane had him all over LSU well before Brick showed up
no doubt about it, Lane gets the most credit for Sam's recruitment
Since you're the expert, just how much credit does Lane get, 84%? 73%? Just for statistical purposes, of course.

miles is like the ceo of a business. sometimes in business you find a person that does something really well that is very important to the business success and you find a way to use that person's talent to help the business.
that is, miles could have let lane recruit and made him the DT coach under haley.
if lane willing then good, if lane not willing then fired.

There is a limited number of coaching positions on the team.

approximately a Go-frick-Yourself % ..just a few percentage points shy of Suck-a-Dick %
Miles closed on big Sam. period.
There is no disputing that the Montgomery's liking of Lane was one of the primary reasons he ever even considered LSU...Lane did a great job recruiting him

until Brick lures some DL talent to Baton Rouge I'll be skeptical of him...LSU is supposed to be D-Line U and this is the first time in a long time that I can remember not having any major DL recruits seriously considering us
there's no excuse for that
Yeah..he really whiffed on this guy: LINK

FL is a state you have to have someone on the staff who can recruit it effectively...it's an absolute must
I agree, we obviously don't have to get someone from there every year. We had a great recruiting class last year.

How much $9 film have you seen to draw your conclusion on Blackmon, Egg?

well, he's already up against the best DL recruiter in the country who has gotten Johnson's committment
Not saying he can't be turned, but we're already behind for next year after having a terrible DL recruiting class projected this year
On top of that, Muschamp has gained a pretty big reputation and has a lot of young energy...Rasco is fond of Texas already and they are projected to have a big season and could play for a National Title
things could get bad in that area if Brick don't step it up
Maclin will be a DE, which means this class isn't terrible.
LSU has been mentioned by just about every national DL prospect.
Rasco and Johnson, I think LSU will get them assuming things go well on the field.
You are panicing too soon.

the bigger point is that when you dismiss lane you are walking away from miami and south florida. this is the best talent area in the country.
We haven't totally walked away. We could get Richard Ash IMO, but I think Haley likes Blackmon more than him. We've been in on James Louis and some other guys.
Yes, our prescence isn't what it once was. But it is as much as teams like Alabama and Auburn have there.

I agree with what you have stated.
My larger point was that if you control Louisiana (a very good state), you have a very strong presence in Texas (houston, dallas),
then if you had a strong presence in south florida you would be in the 2 top states plus lousisiana
there would never be a down recruiting year (ie top 5- 10 every year). this may happen anyway but with south florida your chances of landing "elite" talent would be increased.
