Rivals staff believes we lead for Penn, Leigh, and Savion Byrd.

Penn is committing July 12th. Rumors for Leigh popping sooner rather than later. If the NCAA extends the dead period again, it would make it a lot more likely that he commits prior to taking his officials.

FYI for anyone considering getting a rivals if you try to cancel your subscription they’ll give you 3 months for free to try and keep you to stay. Their staff has been dropping solid tidbits every other day on the message board. Id say it’s worth $10 for 4 months of access.

I'll believe Byrd when I see his name in ink. Lots of big money backing SMU ready to make him say no

A class consisting of Dellinger, Leigh and Byrd would be an INSANE haul.

I can’t even imagine how good the line will be alongside Dumervil, Martinez/Hill if that happens.

But, SMU is not on the football level of LSU.

Have you seen their facilities? I lived close to campus before.

They do not have LSU money relative to athletic program & boosters. Vandy also has an unbelievable endowment but it does not spill into sports.

I'm skeptical as well, but the staff feels like he is theirs to lose.

For a full class, you're absolutely right, but for 1 recruit they have the backing to go up against anyone in the country

SMU can spend with almost anyone if that what it comes down to. Old Dallas money. Probably is, normally it's not just about money, and top recruits want a chance to get paid and also play for national championships.

275.13 with 17 recruits and 9 left —

#2 class right behind OSU with
298.06 with 18 recruits

with a shot at 4 more five-stars

Then why haven’t they been doing it? Good football players don’t mysteriously show up at smu. This isn’t the Pony Express days.

I’ll believe it when I see it. Otherwise, there’s zero trend or evidence to believe this. Smu has literally gotten the worst high school talent among P5/G5 schools in Texas. Houston gets better talent. And now I’m supposed to believe they’re outbidding the defending national champs? Doubt it

Facts.

No, they don't have LSU's facilities, fanbase, success, etc. But, given what they have to work with and their recent rise to relatively moderate success along with the ability to put kids in the league--couple that with the money to compete with any program in the country (ESPECIALLY for DFW kids)...don't count them out.
