Damn that sucks hopefully we lock Pounds down and have another interior Olineman on deck we haven’t heard of yet

Damn, yall think Cregg is on the hot seat if we don't land some of these bigger OL recruits this year?
Posted on 7/29/20 at 6:37 pm to fOrEvErLsU1987
From what I heard itd he a center from Texas, Ezra Dotson-Oyetade, or Remington Strickland if I had to guess.

Possibly, I expect next years oline class to be filled with studs however.

As long as he lands Leigh and couple interior guys we’re good but I don’t think he would be in the hot seat regardless he proved his worth coaching up the Oline ON THE FIELD

Understood and you could make a good argument for the fact that he can develop players. We just have no proof he is an above average recruiter at this point.
*And I should mention I mean hot seat in regards to recruiting. I do not think he will be fired anytime soon.

Cregg is no where near a hot seat. O loves the guy.

You mean the guy who just won the Joe Moore award for best offensive line in the country?

Our O-line recruiting hasn't been great for a while -- two of our starters this coming year committed to us as defensive linemen. Cregg didn't inherit a deep and talented group. When last season started, it was really impossible to think about that group as the best in the country.
Cregg is not on any kind of hot seat.

Got to love the rant, always delivers

How many Top OLineman did he have on last years Moore award winning line

Still feeling good about Leigh?

How many of those guys did he recruit? Just a heads up, this is a recruiting board, and he has not done well at recruiting up until this point. He is undeniably good at developing players but there is no evidence, as of now, that he can string together great OL classes. "Hot seat" may have not been the appropriate phrase to use so I will try again. How much pressure do you think Coach O will put on Coach Cregg if he continues to struggle with recruiting?

I suppose so, I dont have inside info but Ohio State guys also agree that we lead. Also he may pop soon due to visits not being able to occur. September is the month I heard.

Dumervil, Dellinger, and hopefully Leigh prove that statement to be false.

His o line won the most outstandi ng o line for 2019. No he is not on the hot seat

If he lands Leigh, Dellinger (pretty much a guarantee), and a couple interior OL then this would be a great class but, as I said, "up until this point" he hasn't done well. If he closes with those guys then he will obviously have turned our OL recruiting around in a big way.

Transfers:
A) I wonder if they are talking to Tank Jenkins (TAMU). I doubt it... nor would I be very excited if they were. Besides, seems like he's tied to the hip of Foster.
B) Mike Arnold (FSU). I'd love to have him. I'm sure we will be talking to him. Not really sure why he's transferring but FSU still has some funk hanging over the program. Don't count on him.
2021 Class:
- Spindler is a long shot; if we can get visit we'll push very extremely hard. But without a visit probably isn't happening.
- Don't count out Bryce Foster. Be a tough pull, but we're not out of it. Not leading... but in the mix. He's one we will fight to the end for, even if he commits. I'd love to take another from the Sooners. He's well worth it.
- We will try to flip Jaeden Roberts (for good reason). Probably blitz right before 1st signing period. Or, if visits kick off push really hard to get him on campus and then full court press.
So no... not really leading for anyone right now. Because of depth probably won't be taking any projects either.
However, don't be surprised (and of course the rant will overreact) to continue to take more OTs than in the past (as compared to IL) AND play them on the inside early in their career to get experience. It's a great strategy for high-level schools and when you run more complex offenses and/or flexible line calls it is almost necessary.

He's only been here one year. Most of these kids today are being recruited as freshman and sophomores. Let's give him some time.
