So do you think these elite HS football players that have had there asses kissed by everyone (including/especially grown adults) since they were in pee wee league don't have huge egos? And wouldn't be tempted to sign with another powerhouse program to guarantee not falling in the rankings?

Or do you think the LSU coaches aren't getting out in front of this and mitigating any "hurt pride' these players may have when they drop after committing to the "wrong" school in the rating services eyes?

Or do you think the recruiting services aren't biased and dropped Sampson because he got worse in the last few days, not because he committed to LSU?

Please explain to me which of the above 3 scenarios are a "reach" as you stated. Thanks.

Just remember, these clowns tanked Will Campbell’s rating. How's that looking now? Day one starter.

I guarantee Will would have been a top 15 player had he gone to Bama. Kid didn't play the game, and the services lost interest.

It happens every year like clockwork. I think the coaches know which players are really solid and don’t put all their stock into recruiting sites

Everyone knows rivals manipulates the rankings to maximize bamas class as a majority of their subscribers are bama fans

It looks like BK and staff are handling this by getting out in front of it by telling the recruits this will happen. It's also smart to point to how many guys we have in the league, and in the grand scheme of things, dropping in the recruiting rankings doesn't mean much. Getting to LSU and ultimately the NFL does.
That's some good skinny right there. Where'd you get that?

I thought guys’ ratings going down after they committed to us was a fallacy, but it looks like you guys were right

No. LSU still has at least two 5 stars in this class.

What those sites originally ranked them is what they are. It’s complete bullshite how those recruiting sites believe that only Alabama, Ohio St., Clemson and maybe Oklahoma are the only teams that should get 5 stars and immediately drop them for absolutely no reason when they commit to a team like LSU. just shows the disrespect those recruiting sites have for LSU as a program.

F**k those dudes

The same way I know 2+2 =4, and I've stated REPEATEDLY since Daniels signed here he would be the starter and received cute responses like yours of "you a fly on the wall in the coach's meetings"?

I have ZERO inside info. I live in Virginia Beach, VA but grew up in BR as a Tiger fan in the 70s. I follow LSU football and men's basketball YEAR ROUND, and I understand human nature.

It AMAZES ME how many people can't read between the lines in these situations. Daniels DOES NOT come here unless he's very confident he starts (and that includes being encouraged to feel that way by the LSU staff).

Brennan has been here since the Clinton administration, and can't claim the job as his, when it should be, no questions asked.

Posters here are swearing it's Brennan's job "cuz he done waited his turn". That means JACK in major college football. The best man wins regardless of class or experience. Now if 2 guys are tied, you may lean toward the more experienced one.

I don't get why so many of you have a hard time reading the tea leaves. It's not that difficult.

This Sh*t happens every year and we’ve still had top recruits commit. You’re putting too much stock into how much these players care about their stars. Stars help them get recognition by big schools but once all the big schools offer they don’t need them anymore. Why tf would they care?

tigahlovah,

I'm in Va. Beach about 10 days per month, but actually live on the Gulf Coast of Florida. We should meet up for an LSU game at a nice sports bar.

What in the Blue frick are you going off about? Got no answer to a simple question?
I asked:
"That's some good skinny right there. Where'd you get that?"
in response to:

My question had ZERO to do with where you live, where you grew up, how long you've been a fan, or your perception of human nature.
Nice deflection though.
Can't say I remember ever saying something about you being "a fly on the wall in the coach's meetings" but if I did it seems to have struck an exposed nerve. That nerve tends to get tweaked when there is personal opinion getting called out for trying/wanting to be perceived as general fact.

Stop it! Your advanced understanding of human nature is overwhelming to the rest of us, Dr. Freud.

They care because they have huge egos and have DOMINATED every level of football they've ever played.

Most of these guys are friends with other top recruits, they camp together, play in all-star games together, etc...

There are bragging rights involved amongst the guys in that club. Plus they are even more of a BMOC at their HS the higher they're ranked.

Despite some of the Snickers I've gotten here when posting this, I would bet a nice sum of cash that the LSU staff works to mitigate the "star ranking drop" our recruits seem to get for no reason. They wouldn't be recruiting at this level if they didn't cover every base possible during the recruiting process.

I'm in no way saying that this is the main factor, you have playing time, atmosphere, do they like the coaches etc... But it matters.

Could mean a difference in Leather vs Cloth interior on their Chargers due to NIL outcomes . . .

Given LSU's track record of breaking NFL rookie receiving records consecutively & producing the best WRs, it's hard to blame 247 for dropping him.

Polian to me nailed it which was to honestly feed our fan base but he wasn’t wrong. Louisiana guys are a different breed. It’s been proven in the NFL. We all love the stars but the NFL pedigree of speaks for itself.
