What do you mean by less than pro-active? There is nothing that LSU can do about academic situations. You can only manipulate the grades and courses so much.

pratt has been silent through this entire thing, which i think is what is most bizarre of all. i'm just ready for it to be over with. we need to go out and get another rb prospect asap if he is indeed gone.

All I hope is that this wasn't something bad on our end. If it was shame on the coaching staff, if not, shame on those who undermined this kid trying to continue his education on an accelerated path.

Outside of the showing up on campus this is very similar to what happened with Patrick Peterson last year. His high school allowed him to graduate without meeting the clearinghouse standards so he had to do some more work to get in for the summer.

Two players denied from early entry by the clearinghouse in the last two years. Three players in one class a few years back all held back by the clearinghouse for a month. Glad to see we are working with these high schools to make sure everything gets squared away.

that's really what's starting to piss me off. Yeah we can't make the kids get the grades, but these schools don't deal with the clearinghouse that much. MAYBE 1-2 kids a year at a school that really pumps out athletes. There is no excuse that LSU didn't look over all of the clearinghouse stuff first and spot whatever the problem is.

This was out in Tiger sports digest on the 14th with the link below.

Dexter Pratt Update

Dexter Pratt was scheduled to enroll this spring along with the other five members from the 2009 class, but Miles said that he is still awaiting word from the NCAA Clearinghouse.

Miles did not have a timetable for when a decision should come on

LINK

Then this was in a College Station TV station today:

NAVASOTA- Navasota running back Dexter Pratt has pulled back from his commitment to LSU and is back in the recruiting mix.

Pratt's high school coach, Lee Fedora, confirmed to Robert Cessna on KZNE radio Saturday morning that Pratt is taking official visits to other schools, including one visit this weekend.

Fedora told KBTX News 3 that the Bayou Bengals are still actively pursuing Pratt, but Fedora said Pratt indicated to him that LSU was likely out of the picture.

His HS coach and a college Station TV station are the only ones to say he pulled his commitment. Who are you going to believe? LSU or a HS coach with his head up A&M's arse? We will see. Right now I am leaning to it being the high school coach's fault in getting all needed paper work into the NCAA so he can enroll in January in an attempt to get him to go to A&M. What purpose would Les get out of doing him like that except losing a recruit?

Another article on the situation.

I'll be very disappointed if he ends up elsewhere. He was one of my favorite players in this class. Good thing he was recruited at a position of strength for LSU.

what sucks is we'll probably never know what really happened. i'd hate to see him wind up at usm b/c of the fedora connection. frickers taking all of our guys who can't get in.

If all this is true, not offering Michael might have been a huge mistake.

When a player of his caliber wants to commit you take him and find something for him to do.

I've been saying this all along. We should NEVER EVER turn down elite level talent. Michael will be ab absolute beast. If we lose Pratt and can't get Richardson the coaches royally screwed the pooch on RBs this year.

If bringing in Michaels meant any chance of a decrease in likelihood we bring in Lache next season, I wouldn't want Michaels at all.

I don't know what all the fuss is about Michaels. Yeah, he's a good player, and he could have an outstanding college career, but there's a guy by the name of Michael Ford in this class that may be every bit as good, and could very well have a better career. It's not like we're running low on RBs any time soon. On top of that, it's not like Miles could predict this whole Pratt situation from a couple of months ago.

The point was you never pass on on elite level talent and that's exactly what Michael is. What if we dont land Seastrunk next year? It's not like he's in the bag by any means...then we really screwed this all up.

I know...how unreliable is his HS football coach?
