I don't know what to think about this because I have never heard of the young man nor am I able to find anything of substance(video/articles) to gauge him by--which in this day and age is very strange.

I would say that Blackmon is the Loch Ness monster of high school football--but I've actually heard of the Loch Ness Monster.

McCarthy isn't doing terrible there...he's been close on some we probably should not have been that close on

Now we need to pull some

To be fair, our strength in TX was greater than ever last year, and our strength in GA has increased...although we aren't getting the absolute best from that state ..but better than Riley and Shepperd

the sad reality is for the first time in years "D-Line U" has no major players seriously interested in us. It's sad because it's a crucial area to recruit

Either Brick isn't getting it done recruiting, or the perception of our D is soft now under Miles' leadership

Houston Bates now this cat ...thats enough to get someone on here banned

And we offer him before he has played a down his senior year. I'm not saying he is not any good, I'm just saying this move is very puzzling.

pretty puzling offer here, his size isn't exceptional and he was passed over by the in state schools.....I don't know, I can't form an opinion without any film but the evidence isn't encouraging at this point.

I mean, maybe he warrants an offer but after other options like hunter are exausted, it's just so early

I don't think this guy sticks to his commitment. If AU or UA offer, he is gone.

This is absurd--anyone that deserves an LSU offer at this point in the game would AT LEAST be known by the recruiting services. They have over 5000 prospects from each class.

I expect for LSU to get a commitment from someone I haven't heard of before in just about every class--but when NO ONE has heard of him them consider me shocked.

My thoughts exactly.

As usual, we are on the same brain wave.

As long as we mop up in the class of 2011 by signing the elite 8-10 players in state, I'm OK with these moves. Occasionally you have to sign players on potential or upside. I think we did that with Mingo last year.

yeah, hope that 4-star works out

you can't justify this take with our '11 class, it's a weak DL class but benay pryor is a damn good player who can play inside/outside so I don't see why this guy was offered so early

how many "hidden gems" has les really found? honest question

I think the question is how many players have developed beyind expectations from the time of recruiting

The guy that really comes to mind is Lafell.

Yes. he was a three-star. But no one thought of him as an elite prospect.

He will be on draft day.

This kid's situation seems similar to Morris Claiborne's last year. Small school, no film. He'll be watched more closely now. Let's see how he is evaluated after his senior year.

no i'm talking about hidden gems

hidden gems are usually lower-ranked because they don't get exposure, which often means other big schools aren't recruiting them

Yes. he was a three-star. But no one thought of him as an elite prospect.

ESPN had him rated REALLY high and by the time we signed him everyone pretty much agreed he was underrated, but it was too late in the process to change things

LINK

Offers from: Florida, Mizzou, Nebraska, Arizona, LSU. this is NOT an unknown kid. he was just underrated

let's compare that offer list to:

Houston Bates

DJ. Welter

No real offers

let's compare that to this fellow 3-star commit:

Luke Muncie

a ton of good, big school offers

you can be a 3-star and not be a hidden gem. if big schools are offering you, then you're not hidden
