I'm assuming that because there was another player arrested there was more than likely an issue of coercion, just like with Hill.

If it's merely a statutory charge then I say it's bullshite. I knew plenty of freshmen females who hooked up with upperclassmen. The article says that the "victim" in question is 14 and White is 17. In my opinion, that still falls within a certain gray area in regards to the mental maturity of both parties.

Again, if the two males coerced her into engaging in some sort of sexual act then they should be held accountable for their actions. However, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the father, who reported the crime, might have some grudge against the two young men.

The sexual contact was “consensual among all parties,” Lynd said.

White and Gipson are charged with a misdemeanor offense instead of a felony because of the age difference between them and the girl. Louisiana law requires a four-year difference in ages for a felony to be filed.

White is 3 years and 7 months older than the alleged victim, and Gipson is 3 years and 10 months older, Lynd said.

Tell it to the Judge. Numbers is all that matters here. Coercion and consent mean nothing in this case...

BTW Jeremy's case was compounded by the fact that he had just turned 18...

Two 17 year olds arrested for having consensual sex with a 14 year old, who all go to the same high school? You go to jail for this?

Springhill is my hometown. I prob know all the parties involved. We're talking about sex w/ a 14 year old girl. Maybe I'm just old fashioned (and if I am, so be it), but I don't think there's such a thing as "consensual sex" when we're talking about two 17 year olds and a 14 year old. I realize NONE of us know the facts at this time, but I'm very disappointed to read some of the callous statments being made here. I bet some of you would feel MUCH different if it was your 14 year old sister involved. I realize this is the internet, but I'd like to think the folks on this site would take a higher ground than some of the comments already made indicate.
