His passer RATING was still around 150 his final 2 seasons, that's top quarter or so in CFB. He was almost 60% his last season.

King posted 154.6 & 167.0 in back to back years

What are we doing here?

he cant throw on Fresno State, it's unlikely it translates to throwing on Auburn, Alabama, Florida moving here, either.

You need to look at some of Lamar Jackson’s game logs. You’re talking out the side of your mouth.

Those defenses in the SEC will force him to become a pocket passer and it wouldn't look pretty.

But you think Myles Brennan is ready for this. Lmao

Don't know, but willing to trust the coaches who know him, work with him daily and see him in practice, know his work habits, physical abilities, etc. Good grief. The kid hasn't been given a chance yet, and you're writing him off. Did anyone ever do that to you, in whatever work you do? I will be completely honest, I'd like to see Brennan more vocal, more demonstrative, his body language does not strike me as that of a natural born leader, but, he has a strong arm, knows the offense, and, I see no reason not to give him his shot. Nothing I've seen, on the other hand, tells me that he's doomed to failure, and again, the coaches know best, not any of us.

I’m not writing him off. I’m saying he’s shown nothing to make one believe he is as good as a player like D Eriq King.

Just because he has stuck around doesn’t mean he should be QB. Bottom line.

Find the best guy and play him. Leave emotions out of it.

Joe is the leader. Myles is gonna have his chance as soon as this season is over.

Everybody should hope like hell that LSU isn't looking at King. If we are, it means MB is terrible.

I don't think MB is terrible. Looking forward to seeing him lead LSU next year.

This argument can be made against every backup qb in the country. Maybe Tua wasn’t good enough, didn’t show leadership in his body language. Until he got his freaking chance to play in a real game situation. Everything before that was conjecture while he sat behind Hurts. I have seen Brennan play in relative big games, playoff games and state championship games. The kid is a leader and a warrior. Most of us have no clue how good he is. But ya bout find out. Myles Brennan is going going to put up numbers that will rival Joe Burrow.

A history of CFB playoff QBs

2014

Marcus Mariotta
JT Barrett/Cardale Jones
Jameis Winston
Blake Sims

2015

Jake Coker
Deshaun Watson
Baker Mayfield
Conor Cook

2016

Jalen Hurts
Jake Browning
Deshaun Watson
JT Barrett

2017

Kelly Bryant
Hurts/Tua
Jake Fromm
Baker

2018

Kyler Murray
Tua
Trevor Lawrence
Ian Book

2019

Burrow
Hurts
Lawrence
Fields

Anyone notice a trend with multi threat QBs?

It’s time to continue to evolve with college football. With the loss of 15-16 starters this added threat will help offset some growing pains. Myles Brennan is a leftover from the old guard. Could he play in this offense? Yea, probably. Is he D’Eriq king tho? Naw

24 QBs

6 “pocket passers”.

Several times have dual threat QBs played in multiple CFB playoffs

What a stupid thread this is. Kid will not be at LSU next plain and simple. We are talking about the same guy who put up theses #'s against Tulane and Oklahoma are we not?

9/19/2019
at Tulane
16 33 1 48.5% 229 2 75 17 116 1 35

9/1/2019
at Oklahoma
14 27 0 51.9% 167 2 30 15 103 1 25

I don't give a damn about his rushing #'s LSU doesn't need a run first guy at QB. In the 4 games he played this past year he barley completed 50% of his passes, that's a deal breaker for me!

quote:

Take every top end QB you see and go back and look at their high school stats, the guys completing a lot of passes now correlates HIGHLY to what they did in high school too.

Obviously competition plays a huge part here. Do you really want me to do this? I could go through a list of 5 stars who were beast in HS and sucked in college. You are very wrong here.

quote:

Have you even been on this board the last year with the constant complaining about Finley and Johnson's numbers?

So you have a few outlier seasons but for the most part every top 300 QB has had a season where they put up great numbers. Especially all these QB’s at smaller schools that are highly recruited. It’s a prerequisite to have stupid numbers to even be looked at.

quote:

Well considering he's yet to start a game in college what else is there, oh wait, those 2 passes he throws at the end of blowouts, lets go on that instead!

Idk How about stop evaluating him off of just his numbers and actually watch the kid play the game of football!

quote:

We did not take a transfer QB coming into this season, nor were looking for one. We also ar enot reportedly looking for one right now either.

Why would we take a flyer transfer in Myles redshirt season that they knew was going to be here for 2 years and leave him on bench and not let him develop in games if he was so immensely talented? Just admit he’s not what everyone thought he was going to be coming in.

quote:

What else was there to go on with him, garbage time at ohio state that means nothing

Joe was the backup in his sophomore year in a highly talented QB room until he got hurt and after that it was history. Had LSU had the QB’s Ohio St had at one time MB wouldn’t sniff the 3rd team. Urban has praised Burrow since the moment Herman recruited him. They talked about his toughness and leadership way back then. 2 things you need to succeed at this level.

quote:

You mean two top notch guys with a ton of talent who played at SEC schools prior and went to offenses that suited them perfectly?

Wait are we arguing learning a similar playbook because that’s exactly what King would be doing and he’s very talented just not as highly recruited because of his height.

quote:

an offense designed to pass the football and make tough throws. This is a stupid comparison by you.

You keep saying this like we can’t give him a Blake Sims playbook lol. It’s not hard to adapt for an OC. Can you not get that through your thick skull? It’s not about him not fitting this offense. It’s about scoring points period and he can do that.

quote:

Other times you can put a very talented guy (Hurts, Fields, Cam Newton) in the right system exactly for them and it wont matter. King is not like those guys.

There are plenty examples of guys in systems that are designed for them that arent necessarily as talented as those guys and are very successful college QB’s.(Lamar Jackson,Pat White, Dennis Dixon etc) King is a spread guy that can throw to open receivers. He doesn’t need to be fitting balls in a small window to be successful in the SEC. most SEC defenses fricking suck defending these spreads anyway. LSU’s receivers had a field day in just about every game this year. Look at what Tua did the whole year, he threw slants and screens to highly talented receivers and let them make plays. It’s pretty simple actually.

quote:

1,425 yards rushing over 2 years Again you were just flat out WRONG here.

Not according to Max preps
LINK

My bad I was looking at his last two years instead of first two. I’m still firm that he’s more of a pocket guy

quote:

Again, would be mind boggling stupid to run a guy who is tearing every single team apart through the air, this is why Joe had way less designed run plays this year than last.

You are making my point chief.

quote:

This shows how absolutely little you know. Houston was the most talented team in the AAC last year

Defensively they sucked arse, I don’t care how much talent they had overall. They gave up 70 to Army. If not for King they probably lose 9 games that year. That talent was severely overrated.

quote:

What? Are you seriously comparing garbage time numbers against a guy who has started for like 2 full seasons about?

Hey that’s all we have to go off of right? You pick high school stats and I pick actual D1 game stats. Garbage time or not Brennan is playing with more talent than the opposing team the majority of the time. The whole sideline erupted when the kid threw his first TD of the year like he’s fricking Timmy the blind kid.
