"This is a courtesy visit because you're afraid to compete with Clausen, right?" Weis asked him. Internally, Crist fumed.
"That got his ire up, got his competitive juices flowing," Weis recalled. "That's when I knew we had a chance of getting him."

Crist had been leaning toward LSU, a logical fit considering that starting quarterback Matt Flynn was just months from graduating.

But Crist couldn't get Weis' words out of his head. "He got under my skin, I'll admit," Crist said.

This pisses me off, and I bet Crist is still kicking himself.

there is always a pang of truth in comments like this. Crist should've told him to pound sand up his bulbous arse.

he really did lose out on a great opportunity here at LSU

I still doubt we would have gotten him though b/c he mentioned he was real close to going to USC too. Personally, I think we were third for him.

The guy we really missed out on was EJ Manual. Still, Jefferson looks like a world beater right now and Im not sure Manual could beat him out.

Robert Griffin wouldn't have been a bad offer either.

charlie weis is the worst coach in america.

dude had one good year with willinghams leftovers and then caked up his schedule and has freakin sucked with his guys with the easiest schedule in CFB.

and the one "good" year they had under him they got in the sugar bowl bc "they almost beat USC"

LSU hasn't missed out on a QB since Perrilloux.

We will be stable at that position for a minimum of five years, IMO.

Losing Crist was not a big deal. The only qb i wished we could have landed in that class with Jefferson was EJ Manual. Saying all that, I am glad it turned out the way it did bc now we got Shep and Garrett.
NOW ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS LOAD UP A LB and i hope Chavis can start bringin them in. Minter and Baker are huge but they are just 2 guys, we need more!

I'm starting to think Crist was overrated coming out and JJ was EXTREMELY underrated as a prospect.

Based on what we've seen at the end of last season and in the Spring this year, JJ might just be the real deal. I thought he was EXTREMELY raw when he came in, but my gosh its starting to look like his possible success a gamblers wet dream.

based on potential, Crist probably was overrated and JJ underrated but I think they were rated fairly at the time

Crist was much more polished coming out and has all the physical tools. He deserved to be a top 4* or 5*. He just f'd up cause now hes going to have to wait a while.

JJ had the tools but was very raw and sort of a late riser, earning an offer during his senior season. He deserved to be a 4*.

BOTTOM LINE: LSU has better coaching than ND!

JJ's star ranking was down a bit because of an earlier injury and thus the reason he wasn't quite as polished and.......... maybe even why he wasn't ready to start early last season.

Once again, me thinks this coaching staff knows what it's doing.

Might be wrong here but Manuel isnt lighting up either at FSU...there were some rumours he is having difficulty learning the play book..

may be some of the FSU fans here can clarify
