Would have been a LB but I think we have moved on with the commitment from Jones and the press on Phillips.

I kind of think it depends on Bourque, cause they wanted him(Perkins) at RB, even though everyone thinks LB. Phillips is the LB, now.

If Bourque decommits I think we just stick with Hill at RB.

I agree, but I don't think we even revisit Perkins, unless we lose someone, or strike-out big. He won't be a RB in the SEC, but LB depth...

Last I heard is Bourque was solid. Has this changed or is this speculation? Staff told him he would be the lone RB offer this year. If hill enrolls, this is still true. Hill is still technically a 2011 recruit. Plus Kahvara Holmes committed helps as well.

Pure speculation. A friend of the family said on here that Bourque was solid. But his dad has said in Scout interviews he may take a couple of visits. I think they are meeting with LSU soon to sort everything out.

Pretty sure Hill will be a 2012 recruit. I don't think we have room to count him back.

Sun Devils Offer LSU Commit

Arizona State coach Mike Norvell was hired this weekend and he wasted no time in hitting the recruiting trail. Earlier today, Norvell extended a scholarship offer to LSU commit Davante' Bourque.

"I talked to Coach Norvell and he said they were offering," stated Kirk Landry, father of RB Davante' Bourque.
... "Coach Norvell just got hired at Arizona State. He's been on Davante' awhile. He was recruiting Davante' while at Pittsburgh. Coach Norvell told me he's not even settled in yet (in Tempe) but he wanted to call and offer. He said Davante' is a top-notch running back and they want him in their program."

Bourque committed to LSU over the summer; what's the current status of his recruitment?

"We're going to LSU tomorrow," said Landry. "He's going to visit Tennessee for sure and Miami for sure. He'll probably visit Nebraska. There's so much coming at me right now that it's hard to keep track of.

"Davante' is searching for the right fit and will make the best decision for his career."

Landry says a visit to Arizona State is possible.

Six schools want him to visit and you can only take five," he said.

At one time, Bourque was committed to Texas A&M. Are the Aggies still after him?

"Their running backs coach told us to give them some time, but we haven't heard from them since Coach (Kevin) Sumlin took over," said Landry.

Canes Offer Bourque

LSU commit Davante' Bourque added his second new offer in as many days when Miami pulled the trigger this morning. Read further to find out if Bourque will visit the Hurricanes.

"I was just waking up today when the running backs coach at Miami - Terry Richardson - called and extended an offer," said Kirk Landry, father of LSU commit Davante' Bourque.
... "He said they need a running back. He heard Davante' is looking around and looked at his film. They like that Davante' is a big back with speed who will put his shoulder down."

Yesterday, Nebraska was in south Louisiana to offer Bourque in person. Tennessee RBs coach Jay Graham also visited Bourque this month.

"Miami wants a visit and Davante' is going to take a hard look," said Landry. "He's probably going to visit Miami, Nebraska and Tennessee."

Bourque led the Class 3A Crowley Gents to back-to-back playoff appearances in 2010 and 2011.

Nebraska Offers LSU Commit
The Huskers continue to extensively recruit Louisiana prospects, and RBs coach Ron Brown was in south Louisiana today to offer LSU commit Davante' Bourque.

"Coach Brown from Nebraska called and Davante' and I met him in Lafayette," said Kirk Landry, father of Crowley RB Davante' Bourque. "He was real nice and talked about the players they have from Louisiana like P.J. ...Smith (John Curtis) and Khiry Cooper (Calvary Baptist).
"He talked about all the history at Nebraska and how they want to get back to being a top program. They want to get back to winning national championships. After the season, they were evaluating running backs and ran across Davante's film. They heard he might be looking around.

"He said they don't know why people are looking at Davante' as a wide receiver, because he's one of the top running backs in the nation. Coach Brown said he's been doing this for 21 years and knows what he's doing."

Where does LSU stand with Bourque?

"Davante' really wants to play at home," said Landry. "There has been a lot of miscommunication and friction due to misquotes and things that Davante' didn't say.

"He's going to be at LSU (for an unofficial visit) on Monday."

Landry said Tennessee is making a run at Bourque and Miami may have interest

I don't necessarily agree but if Hill enrolling causes DB to look around, then it seems like from the outside he is afraid of competition.

Its seems to me like he wants to go where the school is making a commitment to him and not one where he stands a chance to end up like Jakari Gore this year.

Its easy to get caught up in the wash at LSU. Especially if you aren't the top guy

Two ways of saying the same thing.

Edit: I still think Bourque ends up at LSU anyway.

If Perkins was from LA, he'd already be part of this class. Any other year, he'd be committed to LSU to play LB. He won't be a part of this class because this is an abnormally fertile year for LB's in LA. Good luck to him wherever he goes.
