Agree. That's what we are hearing as well on our side

We will see how it plays out.
I still think he will go the MLB route. He is being scouted by a number of clubs.
If he decides he wants to be a two-sport college athlete-- in football and baseball-- then LSU's chances go up considerably higher for his signature.
The baseball aspect is what is most intriguing to me.
The kid is throwing a 92-94 mph fastball as a lefty right now.

I didn't know he was such a baseball prospect. Do you have a rough draft round projection, such as 1st or 2nd round or top 10 rounds, or outside of the top ten?
I've heard that Oregon is his favorite but that he is not as sold on Oregon as rumored but still not likely to leave the West Coast with USC, Washington, and UCLA still on his mind with Oregon. But I've heard he does like the defensive line history at LSU and the SEC has made a name for itself as a premier conference. Even though unlikely I still think the fact thay he has as thing for LSU without ever visiting bodes well and *IF* he visits for the Bama game I like LSU's chances to go up. Just gotta hope he sticks to his visit.

He was fist offered by Maneri, and I think he has extended family in Louisiana...you never know.

I cannot answer that with any certainty, but I think he would be high on the teams (I believe the Giants, the Cubs, the Braves, and the Astros are the main suitors) radars.

As much as it pains me to say this, I think Mora and ucla have more of a chance in the long run for his services. I think the USC coaching staff is spinning their wheels with him.
We are bringing in an incredible class so far this year. And it will only get better. But if we cannot bring in some quality interior DL, I will consider this to be a subpar class. We need more bodies at the NT and three-technique than anywhere else. And the fact that we possibly could get another committment from another WR soon-- 4* Paul Harris from VA-- actually annoys me.

Yea, you guys seem to be filling those last few spots fast. Good for us and Willis...
I don't think you guys are going to get Willis because you won't have room for him. I can't see you constantly getting DBs ahead of him and not fill your last few spots with DL...seems like a big need.

The Trojans to appear to be making a considerable move right now, especially with Michael Hutchings getting on Vanderdoes on their behalf. We still feel pretty good based on stuff we've heard about Eddie's relationship with our DL coach, and of course the Armstead connection. But if there's a team besides the Trojans who we are concerned about, it's definitely LSU. He'll ultimately pick one of the three of us IMO, and what makes it difficult to watch from our side of things is that we have a very laid back and hands off approach to recruiting. In general we let kids come to us and do not pursue them very hard - certainly not the way Orgeron does, for example.

Indeed. Orgeron is in a certain class obviously. But I bet you guys are recruiting Eddie harder than we are as well.

LSU frequently has a "surprise" recruit that the fans do not give much chance of signing and then on signing day LSU gets their letter-of-intent. Maybe Vanderdoes is that player this year.

and by frequently, you mean about once every 12 years

Oooooohhhhh yyyyyeeeaaahhhhh, Orgeron is in a class by himself all right. Every place the guy goes, the programs end up on probation. Took Lanie and Orgy a grand total of 1 year to get Tennessee on probation.

Hakim gray will be at camp and should turn some heads. He could bulk up easily to play inside.

I've been hearing the USC buzz with Eddie as well. No one is going to outwork Orgeron for a DL recruit. As long as we get a visit then I feel our staff did all they could. The goal is to get these kids on campus. After that it's a toss up.
I'd like to see a 3rd DT as well but the need is not as pressing as DE so I don't think the staff will reach for a 3rd DT. We'll just take 2-3 next year to get ready for the departures of Logan, Freak and Ferguson. We're young at DT and 5-6 deep with Thomas and M. Johnson in there.
Think Herron is the best candidate to move inside down the line. Lavar Edwards like body type. Swing guy.

Hakim gray looks OK, but I don't think LSU would offer him. Pretty much across the board (the services, the Rivals user ratings, the offers that he has) all point to me to a La Tech/Miss State type of guy. He doesn't really have a top notch offer at all. You know the funny thing about his (and most others film to be fair), you know when these DL look the best? It is when for some unknown reason, the OL simply doesn't even try to block the guy. His film is full of blown assignments by the OL...he looks decently quick but he isn't that quick. For some reason they said, "you know I don't think we need to try to block this guy on this play." To his credit, on this video, when they did that, he got the job done.
Personally, I hope he ends up at La Tech. Keep the guy in state and the way Dykes seems to be heading the program in the right direction, he might be able to prove himself there. Good luck to him.

If we get Gilmore, its Vanderdoes or bust IMO.
I think this is most certainly the current recruiting plan.
quote:
We have Lawson, and Herron is a candidate to fill Brockers role.
Lawson is almost big enough to play tackle now. I think Herron stays outside, even though he might get pretty big (listed as 6'5", he's every bit of 6'3" and change). I think it will depend on whether or not he can keep his quick first step as he physically matures.

Camp will tell alot about Pangano/Crayton, but they are back-burners unless they just kill camp, and I doubt that...
I agree - Pangano, Crayton and maybe a couple more might have a chance to "play in" with great performances at camp, but are not necessarily on any planned glide path at this point. The staff may hold (or make) a spot for Nkemdiche if he starts to waver in the Fall, but we have to be pretty happy with the DLine haul (if we close the deal on Gilmore), which will equivalent to 2012's LB crop.

I think Crayton might have a decent chance to be in this class depending on Vanderdoes, but I certainly don't believe it is Vanderdoes or best. As far as Nkemdiche, I think that guy is "dead man walking" to LSU. With his well publicized shenanigans, I don't think LSU wants the guy now...I certainly don't. This guy is going to cause trouble, pure and simple. I posted how it even made the main story on Yahoo's general news yesterday...the article was not complimentary. The comments (every single one that I read) was very derogatory towards the guy. As far as Pagano, he seems to be simply overrated and I didn't like him trashing his competition at DT and then he shows up at the camp and puts in a less than impressive showing. I hope LSU takes 7 DL, 8 if they have plans to move Lawson to OL (classified now on defense).

ESPN has a chat thread going if anyone wants to go ask their experts about Eddie.
ETA:
Or ask one of the 247 guys in their free 80 page thread
