Like some of us were saying the other day, appeared to be:

Best DE - Herron
Best DT - Vanderdoes
Best OL - Raulerson (Texas commit)

quote:

Isn't there always one late star ranking in January? I seem to remember Spencer Ware getting his 5th star in the 11th hour

This is true every year. Rivals starts off with about 15 to 20 5* and at NSD, Rivals usually has 25 to 33 rated 5*. It doesn't look too good for LSU to finish with a 5* this year on Rivals. RSJ or Vanderdoes would have to sign with LSU probably. The others might be too far back in the Top 100 to leapfrog to get to say the high 20s.
Or maybe Etch-a-Sketch's FLIP FLOPS.
To be honest, I bet there are several each year. Mostly guys on the east and west coast who LSU just takes a wild shot at. What can you lose really? I thought Willis might be one of them very early. After all, has LSU EVER signed 1 player out of Arizona? I don't remember any.
To my knowledge, LSU never offered Noel Ellis.

What's the record for 4* in a class, because we could finish with 19 or 20 on rivals

21, class of 2007 with 26 total commits...only 5 signees less than 4* that year.

Yeah, I still think we aren't close enough and probably won't get that close to Vanderdoes to put him in my list. But who knows.

And I can honestly see why Willis is doing his 16 team deal, although it is ridiculous. It would appear to me to cut teams down in halfs (16, 8, 4, 2, 1) would be an easy way to weed out the schools you dont want to go to.

Think Willis will come down to NSD? Those selections make me more nervous than the 4th quarter of some football games

I literally forgot Vanderdoes but would still include him...FOR NOW until he says otherwise. I have 0 problem with the way Willis has handled things. I have been following his comments about LSU and he has been very honest. He simply likes the visits, the recruiting process, etc. He hasn't hit the "prima donna" line in anything I've seen. And even when saying he and Goodman wanted to go to the same school, it was not a demand at all like you know who (RN). No, I do not think Willis will come down to NSD...not even that close. For one thing some of his most likely schools are filling up.
Forgot about Vanderdoes, but with 10 schools in his "cut down", who knows. Of course for comparison, Willis has 16 on his list but the vast majority of these he has barely mentioned in the past.

My Projected Final 6:
Priest Willis (DB)
Rashard Robinson (DB)
Tim Williams (DE)
Kendall Beckwith (DE/LB)
Rickey Jefferson (WR)
Greg Gilmore (DT)

I most desire Willis, Robinson, and Williams. It is even strange to me that I feel this way because we don't need that much DB help especially since next year's class is going to be ridiculous, but Willis and Robinson would be huge gets for our secondary in the future IMO. Tim Williams speaks for himself. He is a freak. Next would be Gilmore because we NEED a DT.

My projected is almost the same as yours. I don't think LSU gets both Williams and Beckwith. That would leave 2 slots open if you go to 26. With those 2 slots, I would hope LSU could get a quality OL and either Prevot or Crayton, etc. I simply think RSJ is Texas bound and I never believed the inevitability of Willis and Goodman going to the same school. I agree that Goodman goes to USC but I don't see Willis going there. Sorry, my crystal ball is fogging up.

P.S. IF LSU can't get another verbal from another wanted OL, take Adam Taylor the RB. LSU is almost guaranteed to lose Ware and Ford after their JR seasons which leaves Blue (he says he will be back for 2 more more seasons), Hilliard, and Hill as the main backs entering 2013. With only Hill taking last year, going empty this year is pretty risky despite what is coming down the line in 2013 class. To my knowledge, LSU has 0 RBs committed in that class yet.
I can't compare him to Collins or even Boutte due to lack of a lot of information. His offers seem to be Alabama, LSU (difference of opinion by the services), Arizona, Arizona State, Florida, Miss, Miss State, Nebraska. Those aren't exactly piss poor offers but then again, the services don't go to the trouble to update offers that are conditional, may not be around anymore due to other commits in the meantime, etc.

His 6'6" 320 lbs approximate size certainly isn't ridiculous, and like lsufanva said, lots of players show up that need to be put in SEC shape. I know LSU is getting visits from other OL and he may still be in the mix also. I also know that some of the very highly rated OL that LSU has offered, the school is not in their top 3 or so. Anyway, I would still like to see 3 DL, 1 WR, 1 OL, and 2 secondary guys which would add up to 26 total which has been stated here by others is the limit for LSU this class (early enrollee of course making the difference). If you heard the radio interview with Frank Wilson recently, that is pretty much exactly his breakdown.
The services are split on the guy. 2 have him rated 4*, the other 2 3*. The main preference I have is 1 more OL just like Frank Wilson said he would like to obtain in a recent interview. Marina, someone else, I don't think it is important. But 3 OL in a class is not very many unless Lawson switches over to OL.
Most people including myself seem to think he will still end up at Texas. But at least LSU gets a visit, and that at least gives a chance to make the sell. I assume he never made it to University of Oregon despite being in the state, so I would say they are gone...still Texas, LSU, and A&M I think in most peoples' mind RIGHT NOW.
quote:

Ignore everything he says, just like the recruiting board is currently doing

IF the recruiting board is SUPPOSEDLY ignoring me, then why all these posts made to me? :rotflmao:
I didn't batch the shite out of Chuck Baker. I gave his positives and his negatives IMO just like I have seen OTHERS do to OTHER verbals and players considering LSU...I have seen it with Pagano, with Marina just today, etc.

So let me get this straight...it is OK to give opinions on some players considering/committed to LSU but not others right? BTW, you want to look up the ones I just mentioned and you can not classify a bunch more posters as "not real fans". You know you are being hypocritical right?
Here's a message to YOU from Brazil.

Some of them fake fans better stay off tiger droppings. Recruits read that.. And I know chuck baker would be hot if he saw what's on there!

:hijack: Wasn't written to me because I'm not "a fake fan". Thanks for making the post though. I'm sure there are fake fans here.
Thank you. I will take that with the consideration it deserves. To show I have 0 bad feelings, a hint. Skip my posts if you find them a waste of time. You're welcome.

if they had taken a knee, the game would have been over. Instead, Baylor head coach Kevin Steele called for a run.

Steele won't be making those decisions. And if Coach Miles is willing to take knees with 5 minutes to go in the game (Ole Miss 2012 contest), then I seriously doubt he wouldn't do it with 20 seconds left. BTW, NOT criticizing Coach Miles. I had NO PROBLEM with that, especially since that was Houston Nutt's last game against LSU. And no, I don't think HN will be back in the SEC with another team.
Just a guess but a consistent one by me anyway. I say it is pretty much 50-50 between LSU and A&M. As far as Texas not making it very far, not a surprise. I knew they were toast when he said "I couldn't make it to Texas that weekend because I had to work." I'll take a wild guess and say he probably could have somehow got off a couple of days. That told me he had 0 interest in Texas. I have seen similar things happen to guys LSU were after...NOT a good sign. :rotflmao:
Sorry, didn't notice the last word there. I couldn't find any video at that minor league baseball stadium or whatever where he actually committed.

quote:

"Plus, you’ve got celebrities down there with the Swamp People, so why wouldn’t anybody want to go down there?” Raper said with a laugh."

Neal pointed out he can bench press nearly 400 pounds. He said he is as strong as he is quick.

Raper called Neal a “machine” in the weight room and on the practice field — a player who always strives for perfection.

He said he had given his players the Fourth of July off and was at the beach with his wife Wednesday when his phone rang. It was Neal wanting to know if he could send someone to unlock the weight room.

“That’s the type kid LSU is getting with him,” Raper said. “He will never surrender. He will always work to improve.”

Funny quote on the Swamp People TV show. Is that guy up to almost 400 pounds bench? I was touting him being 350 when the other linemen I could find (including the heralded Vanderdoes) was around 300. Of course their benches could have risen also, but almost 400 pounds for a guy who hasn't played his SR year in HS yet? :hail:

Plenty of video on Lewis Neal. Do a Google search on "Lewis Neal". Then click the video option. Sophomore highlights....junior highlights...all accessable and lenghty. Actually one of the easier guys to find.
Did serve one useful purpose for me. I hadn't checked Toolame's verbals in a long time. Almost every single of them has 1 offer...the Green Ripple.

On the over/under on whether Toolame will even be recruiting in 3 years/i.e. having an existing football team, I'm taking the UNDER!
