I thought for sure he’d definitely be one of the ones fired. He hasn’t done so hot recruiting OL.

It can’t be stated enough that the game is won in the trenches, hence Alabama’s dominance

Damn man. Read the thread. That was his incoming college weight. He’s 315+ now.

That Harvard pipeline continues

Remember we started a Harvard QB in 08. I thought Shanahan was solid. I don't remember him having many penalties, always on time with the shotgun snaps. I bet if Moffit gets a whole off-season with him he could be All-SEC caliber. And if this brainiac Harvard dude is big and athletic, imagine the complex blocking and protection schemes they could handle on the O line.

Most Harvard football players are far less intelligent than their average student. These are people who could not have gotten into Harvard were it not for football.

Ah. The old "high post count makes my shitty opinions more credible than yours" argument. Well done.

Most Harvard football players are more intelligent than the average LSU student, not even limiting it to scholarship athletes. I say this as an LSU grad.

He looks great on film, but it's also against Ivy League competition and that makes me nervous. If he's the best available OL grad transfer out there, I say let's give him a chance. All I know is we have to upgrade our OL play in a big way if we want to return to being one of the elite teams in the country.

He could have 2 years if he chooses to. He played 2 years and one year he played a couple of games so counted as red shirt. Now he may enter the draft but he can play 2 years

I disagree, and I think you’d be surprised.
A few years ago LSU signed a QB who was recruited by Harvard. He had no chance with LSU, and a lot of posters kept going on about how smart he must be. But his ACT score was a 25. The average ACT score at LSU is 26 - and this was a QB. I think QB’s are generally smarter than their average teammates.

I think if we had all of the facts that the average football player at Harvard is smart, but the ones who get most of the snaps are a lot less smart.

They don’t give athletic scholarships and they do still have much higher academic standards for athletes than other D1 schools. Think Vandy or Northwestern without the scholarships. But a degree from Harvard carries a lot of weight, especially with those who can afford to go there, so even good athletes do. There have been several linemen from Harvard in the NFL over the years.

They don't give "scholarships" but as long as your parents don't make $200k or so, they give the football players full financial aid.
