This is exactly what he hasn’t done so far

Didn’t Kelly dismiss McGlothern? Then didn’t Flott leave after Raymond was gone?
I don’t think you can completely pin Kelly’s secondary woes on CR.

quote:Yes, but Mcglothern dismissed himself for not accepting a culture change. His character flaws is a reason he went undrafted and why he never played on a winning team in his 4 years of college. Depth wise you can completely pin Raymond misses on Kelly need to hit the portal hard his first two years.

Raymond was a lazy hire.
Not true… Kelly was the one who drug out the hiring of Raymond for almost a month.

Some still think CR is a great recruiter, but is getting outspent.
If recruiters are simply glorified bankers under NIL, what difference it now makes that he was once considered a "great recruiter"?
And , under this new regime, doesn't being a great coach/ developer mean a whole lot?
Who still considers Raymond a great db coach?

Frank is a big reason Raymond is back on the staff.

I do. He’s one of the best DB coaches ever in CFB. Had a rough go at Florida, but that entire program isn’t looking good.
You can’t say he’s a bad coach when he’s put, without researching, 8? DBs into the NFL, all of whom possess great 1v1 coverage technique.
The dude knows how to coach man coverage. It’s not deniable. Roster is thin at DB, though.

I thought it was something like that. I just knew Kelly isn’t completely to blame

Seems to me that the evidence shows he was once a great recruiter, and got multiple NFL talents to LSU. That reputation fed on itself .
If he was ever a great coach, he seems to have forgotten how....

He coached multiple 3-4 star DBs into NFL DBs. Explain to me how the reputation fed on itself. You don’t just forget how to coach 1v1 technique lmao.
When he was at LSU, we had corners going on islands with no safety help and thriving. That’s coaching.

For all practical purposes, LSU got one season each out of Ricks, Stingley and Joseph.
Joseph played in 11 games as a freshman and left for Kentucky. Ricks played in 10 with four interceptions but just six with 1 interception as a sophomore that departed for Alabama. Singley was brilliant in 2019 with 15 starts and six interceptions. Over the next two years, he played in a total of 10 games and not a single interception.

Same way the game passes many coaches. NCAA evolves and coaches have to evolve with that formula. Being able to navigate it isn't as easy. There's more to coaching than just being able to teach technique. You have to relate with the players and they have to like you as well.
To Raymond's credit he sustained what Cooper built and did a very good job of talent evaluation and recruiting. However, when he started using bargaining chips constantly to get raises from LSU his secondaries began to really drop off.
His secondary performances haven't been impressive the past 8 years or so. Not only this his recruiting has fallen off which is his strength because it's a different era. You need coaching first recruiting second where in the past it was arguable they were both just as important. Kids have their hands out now before they care about the recruiting part.
I'm unsure if it was just him pulling his foot off the pedal or him just not being as relatable in these scenarios but arguably everything has dropped off for him the past 8 years. We'll see how motivated his secondary is this season. I can see why BK gave him a short prove it contract.

I bet you the opposite. I don't hate Raymond but he's competing against NIL these days.

We got the

#12 CB Kelvin Joseph
