After watching his video, and correct me if I'm wrong but he seems like another Andre Stringer. The video I saw shows nothing but him shooting ridiculously long 3's. Not really slashing to the basket any. Hopefully I'm wrong

The main difference is that he can play 2, but he is a 1. He's a taller point guard that can dribble and can pass. When Stringer came in, he was strictly a scoring 2 that played for a very poor high school team where he was forced with the task of scoring 30-40 points a game or losing. Stringer has had to learn that he can't be a 2 at his size the same way he was in high school and he's had to develop other aspects of his game. Collins is really a 1 that can play 2.

JJ is making this look too easy. Idk why people were saying he couldn't recruit. The man is doing work.

Who said that? If anything that was the thing people were most confident he could do. Certainly he's even surprised us with his ability this early though.

Lots of people were pissed about the hire. Most of them were simply saying he was just a bad coach but some ppl were saying he wouldn't be able to recruit and that his only recruiting tactic would be "hey, I coached shaq!".

I didn't say these people knew what they were talking about, Just that idk why they were saying that. Of course, rantards gonna rant.

I was very down on the hire initially. One of the most vocal critics. But after I cried, I moved on and hoped for the best for the benefit of the program. I always felt that he could recruit, but even that has far exceeded my expectations in such a short time. Very impressed and excited for the future right now.

I thought tj was a better name and better hire. He just didn't pan out. But JJ is definitely doing work and surprising the hell out of me.

Rivals says his ball handling and passing is outstanding with everything else being good. I'll take it this late in the game for a PG any day.

I think the highlight videos are deceiving about his game. Here's what his prep school coach said:

"He's got probably the best mid-range game of any kid I've seen in a long time," Myers said. "He's big, so he bumps you off, then elevates and shoots it. He's not a drive it and dunk it kind of guy, but he's a drive it and use my strength guy, which I think translates well to the college game."

Overall very happy with the signing. We needed another point guard and it looks like we got a PG who can play. Will be a good player off our bench and should help keep stringer at 2.

I like that he is a big, strong PG. We haven't had one for awhile. He can be effective playing like that at the 2 as well.

Agree. I was worried about him taking PG minutes... That scared the shite out of me. Glad to see we have someone else to take those minutes.

fwiw, I think Collins would have been a 4 star had he stayed till his senior year of HS. Great pick up for Johnny on short notice. I've had to skeeze off of bignose's tickets for the last 2 seasons. I dropped mine when I started night classes but I'm done with those now. I might look into a set near his seats if I can acquire them.

I put my deposit down on 2 tickets in lower bowl for next year. I think these Tigers are gonna put on a good show for everybody and I think you see much larger drowds than we have had under TJ. Looking forward to covering LSU Basketball here and possibly for a couple other websites.
