Destrehan & Shaw has two solid qbs next year

Watched the kid from Shaw last season and I liked what I saw. Reminded me of Teddy Bridgewater at the time. He still has a go ways to go, but he is young. I have not seen the Destrehan guy but I have heard nothing but good things about him.

Buccwoildbammer says Bateman would commit on the spot as soon as Bama offers. Same goes for Johnson. Same goes for Mtich. Same goes for Joe Montana.

I know he committed but it is still long time until signing day. I'm just saying anything could happen. It would not surprise me if he didn't end up at South Carolina.

Just take a look at Oklahoma's last decade or so of qb production and you'll see all you need to see. Oklahoma is imo the best qb school (of the powerhouses) in the country. USC gets the headlines and they deserve them no doubt but Oklahoma's qbs have been much better statistically over the same time period and that includes Leinart's years. Jason White was Leinart before Leinart then you have Sam Bradford.

Les hasn't done real well at QB by results but for the most part his qb recruits have been ranked fairly high. Go look at Saban's qb recruits at Bama save for Sims who never did anything and the rankings by committed qbs are pretty similar. That is the remarkable part, Saban's issues landing top flight qbs. We did land Kiel last year no matter how it ended up so Les and Krags do deserve credit for that. In all honestly Mitch isn't exactly the barometer of qb recruiting. He's not exactly a sure thing or a top 5 qb. He's ranked below some of our past qbs and in the same area of most of Les' qb recruits. It's not like we're talking about the next Matt Barkley here in regards to rankings.

I'm beginning to fell we're destined to get Johnson and have to sweat all year that Auburn doesn't offer. Disgusting.

Imo offer Kincaide now and save us all the trouble or press Cord Sandberg or both. If we take Johnson, we better take a 2nd just in case.

I like Staver as well. Maybe when/if Bama lands Bateman we put the hard press on Ferguson and can beat out UNC for him.

Definitely more questions than answers in qb recruiting right now. Never has a season or 2 been more important at the position perception wise. Mettenberger desperately needs to live up to expectations. If he doesn't then we are going to be in trouble and dependent on some kid falling in our lap or just absolutely loving LSU to get an upper level qb.

A dark horse name to throw around is Jesuits Tanner Lee. 6'3 185 just got offer from Tulane.

No Bama fan wanted Mitch. Any LSU fan with decent QB knowledge didn't want him either.

I'm not saying he's a terrible QB, but both Alabama and LSU can do much better.

For me, its Cooper Bateman or bust now because I don't know how sold I am on Jeremy Johnson.

If Cooper Bateman doesn't pick Alabama, I wouldn't be upset if they went after Damian Williams. He is in y'alls backyard, why doesn't he have an offer?

I know he is shorter than your ideal QB, but the kid has a cannon for an arm and is very fluid in is mechanics.

He reminds me alot of Rohan Davey.

QB dominoes fall fast, by summer all the good ones are usually committed. It'll be interesting to see where we go from here.

I like Damian Williams but I also like his rival Tanner Lee. I really want you guys to check him out on YouTube and tell me what y'all think. Haven't heard much on him at all.

I gotta believe our offensive philosophy is hurting us with these guys. Which im fine with as long as we win. What other reason is there?
These guys potentially could be starters their RS Freshmen year at a top 5 program.

I thought for sure at this point we would have had a top 10 national guy on board since a lot of them commit early.

If we are going to take a small QB, I would rather Devante Kincade. Better prospect than Damian and comes from a talent-rich high school

That post was more or less a jab at one of your kool-aid drinking brethren. That guy is a complete toolbag

You gotta look at counter recruiting. In the case of Mitch, you have to think Spurriers QB knowledge of the game and reputation won him over. You have to think Spurrier did insult the circus of a qb situation here the last few years, along with all of our competition.

In the case of J.T. Barrett, Urbans reputation also won out over our situation. What do we have to sell him that Urban cant? Nothing really. He will make Miller a star and J.T. will want in.

With all that said, for us to be in serious contention with these guys is a big plus. We had all but signed Keil and we lost out to Spurrier and Urban on two great Qb's. The effort is there to get the guys in but in the end it will have to come down to how our QB performs this season.
