He is quite the homer, but you can't hold that against him. Lord knows every fanbase has them.

Tigerbru, I agree with your breakdown of how/why Barrett and Mitch might have chosen the schools they did. All about reputation though both Spurrier and Meyer's reps are overrated for different reasons. Reps can carry you a long way whether true or not.
Spurrier has done nothing with his qbs at USCe aside from pander to a colossal frickup in Garcia who, while very talented, was never going to be the qb Spurrier or Gamecock fans wanted him to be. Other than the Garcia years all Spurrier has done there is pull qbs in and out of games. He's Brian Kelly before Brian Kelly. At UF he earned his rep based on his forward offensive vision. He was ahead of his time with the "fun n gun" offense. Defenses weren't ready for that onslaught and Spurrier benefited from it in terms of qb success with Shane Mathews, Wuerffel and Jessie Palmer. In reality all of those qbs were purely products of the system and not of Spurrier's qb acumen. None of his qbs have had success at the NFL level and neither did he.
Meyer's reputation is based on 2 kids(should be 3 because Omar Jacobs was a beast at Bowling Green) Alex Smith and Tebow. The common denominator with those 2 and his falloff after is Dan Mullen. He has never been successful without Mullen. Mullen was his lifeline and therefore forged his own reputation. Braxton Miller is a better talent than both Tebow and Smith and should be better than both if Meyer is the supposed genius he is made out to be. I have huge doubts that he really is. Is he a good HC and recruiter, no question but "genius", we'll see. Can he win big without Mullen? I'm interested to find out. I must disclose also that I am a huge detractor of Meyer. I think he is a joke and a sleazy human being that while good at his job, ultimately will pay the karmic price for the means by which he got there. I might be a little biased.

Trust me, LSU has players rated higher on their board than Mitch.

As long as its not Jeremy Johnson im ok

Bateman is the only can't miss guy I see LSU recruiting hard. Johnson is a project. We already have 3 of those on the team in Liggins, Randal and Rivers. We need a more polished QB in this class...

Agreed. Look at the video. The ONLY negative is that he does short-arm a bit. Can run and fire bullets on-target...

You gotta look at counter recruiting. In the case of Mitch, you have to think Spurriers QB knowledge of the game and reputation won him over. You have to think Spurrier did insult the circus of a qb situation here the last few years, along with all of our competition.
And we could do the same with the carousel of QB's that have been on the field at SC...right?
You see how SS treats a QB that isn't playing too well?

The effort is there to get the guys in but in the end it will have to come down to how our QB performs this season.
Agree...Mettenberger can change everything

Hard to recruit QBs when they have had to see Lee and Jefferson the last 3+ years.

Why doesn't this kid have any major offers? What does he lack?
Brogan Roback's Soph year highlights look pretty good.
