Has anybody checked on Rivals to see if he's dropped to a 3-star to make sure he's really coming?

Ok so just so everything is in the clear, sentimore definitely has an offer from lsu, and Les miles and all the wonderful posters on this site definitely want sentimore, right?

I'm not sure anyone knows that. That is the rumor. My guess is that Sentimore is coming to BR to discuss with Coach Miles the issues that prevented him from getting an offer. If Miles is satisfied that those issues have been addressed, then I think Sentimore will be given an offer. It will then come down to whether Sentimore feels like LSU was unfair to him during the process. If he thinks the Tigers were honest and upfront and if he's as big of an LSU fan as we've been told, he'll sign with LSU. If he has hurt feelings, he'll sign with Bama.

Sentimore may be the best defensive lineman in the state

I think Davenport is better and Downs looked like he was underrated at the UA game. Sentimore is in the conversation of course.

Let's assume for a second that he does have an offer (because he does)...99% chance in that case that he comes to LSU...once he agreed to this visit this weekend, that was when the tables completely turned.

Considering our recent rash of incidents at that position (injuries, grade trouble, etc.) I say yes.

RJF-Grades AND Injuries
Dorsey- chop block
Alexander- Injured, injured, injured

There are more I'm missing, but IMO you can't have too much depth on either line. There's more dirty play on the line and in the pile than anywhere. Not to mention there is more hard hitting there than anywhere.

I think the hope is that at least 2 can contribute next season so the more the merrier.

Miles/Chavis are building a defense based on speed and not big, hulking D-Linemen that can't move (see Cody vs. Utah as an example).

This has been my one complaint with the D-Line play over the past two years. While we have a lot of depth at defensive tackle and Tyson Jackson is clearly a first-round draft pick, we have not used speed rushers effectively.

Rahim Alem has really been our only fast, somewhat undersized guy, yet he has not been given enough snaps until the end of this year.

Regardless of what happens with Sentimore, I am very pleased with the defensive tackles we have signed, but we still lack speed rushers from the end position. Hopefully Logan will pan out because once Alem is gone, I am not sure who will be able to play that role for us. Possibly Sidell Corley?

Also, does anyone see either Downs or Sentimore (if he signs) switching to the end position?

Brown

I don't know about need, but if this kid's got his shite together, he's a must take IMHO. Isn't he a kind of DT/De "tweener" anyway? .....just aksing

How about Mingo? Couldn't he grow into that kind of a DE. I know he says he wants to play LB, but if he outgrows the position, then a switch would THEN be immenent.

I also realize he hasn't committed, but the other D-linemen are only commitments. We still gotta wait until NSD.

I hope Les does a real good job of making sentimore( like richardson) rethink his choice after this weekend

Yes. Unless you don't like having DT depth.

If we get Alexander back (and I doubt we do), this is what our DT depth looks like for next year:

SR
Charles Alexander
Al Woods

JR
Drake Nevis
Akiem Hicks

SO
Kentravis Aubrey
Cordian Hagans
Lavar Edwards

FR
Chris Davenport
Joshua Downs
Darrington Sentimore

The real problem is lack of upperclassmen. LSU typically rotates 4-6 DT's into the game. Getting 4 DT's enables us to redshirt, and I think that is what Les is looking for here.

I base this on little else but my own knowledge, as I am not the lsu football expert you typically find in abundance on the Rant.

He's just taking a visit. Probably doesn't mean anything other than he wants something to do close to home this weekend. He was quoted talking about trying to recruit kids for Bama like 2 weeks ago. I'm not worried about this at all.
