I'd almost rather him commit to Texas because LSU will still stay on him hard. It will be down to the wire until NSD.

Maybe he is saying the same thing to both sides.

Smart money is on Texas

LSU “insiders” are horrible. Shea and Billy are nice guys but they get lapped by other team’s insiders on the regular

This has epic potential as far as melts go.

Lots of disappointment, yeah. And the black rain clouds on the board would definitely have field day …cant compete with UGA withhout 5 stars… their usual schtick. It’s pretty obvious no one knows where Colin is going, at this point.

But, speaking as someone who has wasted countless hours over the last two decades in this board, the true melts were in-state guys that go to hated rivals. Joe Mcknight, “5 for 5”, and Landon Collins were the biggest melts I can recall. But Mcknight was the all-time melt.

That entire saga was ridiculous.

His comment is about hearing optimism from inside Texas.

See, I read that differently. Sounded to me like he talked to non-Inside Texas sources, but maybe I'm wrong.

ETA: Shea + Billy have been pretty quiet since letting people know about CD + Simmons commitment date/time. Not sure how to interpret that but previously (Cai Bates), they knew it was LSU and kept it quiet so the kid could have his moment. Trying to have some optimism here.

I don't think they know. I don't think Texas knows. I'm not even 100% convinced Simmons knows at this exact moment.

If Billy is going to know about a recruit, it should be a North Texas kid. Trying to be optimistic.

I agree with you. And that's probably a big part of their silence, if so. Just wild that both sides have picks in for their home team. It's going to go down to the wire - a la what was reported about Desmond Ricks last year.

Regardless of who he chooses on the 10th, you have to remember that Simmons is high on both programs, so it's not like his mind can't be persuaded as the season goes along.

I feel like people ignore Sark's history.

Let's take out the fact that he had 1 winning season in his 5 years at Washington.

This guy has been the head coach at USC and Texas. 2 schools that are never, ever short on resources or talent.

He's 25-18 at these schools. Both at times when the conferences themselves were not exactly dominating the cfb landscape.

Let's see how Simmons is feeling when texas is 3-3 and people are talking about Sark not even being there in a couple years.

Exactly my feelings about it. I’d fully expect Texas to do what they usually do which is disappoint and then the negativity will pick up. Should be fun

I thought this too but it could simply be the coach wants them to commit together and end the craziness before the season starts. They are friends and just said lets both do it on the 10th. Who knows

They do. Whoever he commits to now wouldn't surprise me if he's not committed to them come NSD.

That a commitment will be binding because they do it together

I don’t think I’ve seen two sides this confident right before a commitment. Something will probably leak before Aug 10.

Of course I don't think it is "binding." I do, however think it would mean a little more than the usual commitment. Any rational person would.

Either way it goes, it's not done until the ink is dry. I get excited about commits because most of them stick, but you can never be sure. Nobody understands the word "commitment" anymore.

This is an everest like climb to get the #1 player out of texas when UT has as much or more money to offer in NIL, and the thrill of staying home.

I'd say the chances for LSU/UT are 25/75

I’ll say that my gut has been LSU for a long time unless given a compelling enough reason and I haven’t had that, though it’s been close. One of the more fascinating aspects of this is that even though both sides are confident they are also both wary to an extent. That just speaks to how the recruitment has gone so far. I will say that if NIL plays a role I think that Texas has the most compelling pitch there.
