Can anyone who may know him or know someone close to him speak on "maturity" issues? I've seen that posted on multiple sites.

Is it bs or what?

Pretty sure it's a thing of the past. For a tragedy in 2013..

He was involved in a serious case

Cole Kelly was giving a friend a ride home?, so that he wasn't walking alone at that time of night. Seth Fontenot shot at them thinking they were possibly the same person(s) that had broken into his truck previously. Then stuff happened and a young man lost his life. Some claim they were maybe stealing? But not sure that is the truth.. regardless it was a tragedy.

There's more to it, but regardless it was an isolated event that happened years back.

I don't believe Cole has any issues.

I know the negative side from the past...which is exactly that, the past. I know the positive side. And I have personal knowledge thru conversations with his father (off the record stuff) about the way things are playing out. I'm not a person friend, I was with personal friends of theirs and just sat back and listened.

I know he called Cameron talking about Coles stats at year end. Never heard back at that point...this was the day Cole was named MVP. TIFWIW

There's interesting thoughts out there about Miles and who he loves to recruit....and it hasn't been guys like Cole (wink wink).

Personally, it tears me up that Miles continually goes after dual threats, when big strong pass first qbs are being successful. Theirs a reason why the true passers move on and dual threats hang on here, it's his choice and they all see it. Does it start to make sense now why BH stays on the back burner while the other guy stays in?
Cole Kelly is a big time recruit and will make a great college qb in the right offense......like the one we ran last year to record #s.

Can't tell if this is a poor attempt at a troll or if you saw a 6'7" height and decided not to watch the film. Kid can run.

That was one side of the story, and could be the correct one, but the other side of the story was that Cole, another kid, and the kid that was shot and killed were drinking alcohol underage (they were 15 at the time), were messing around with Seth Fontenot's truck and the guy shot at them obviously killing the one friend. You could chalk it up to 15 year olds doing dumb stuff and hopefully they have matured since the tragic incident a couple of years ago.

Again, do not know if this was the true story but just one that was being around in the media after the incident.

Yeah I have no idea that's why I put a question mark.

Regardless what happened, this seems to be the only incident (yes it's a huge one).. but I don't see him having any other character concerns AT ALL.

I agree at worst it was a 15 year old doing dumb stuff. He has most certainly grown into a mature young man I am certain.

But yes, this is why they put character concerns

Yeah he's a good athlete. Off field stuff is referring to when he and the current STM qb were shot along with another kid that lost his life. He sometimes gets overly competive to a fault. He did punch an opposing coach in a basketball game once but that was 8th or 9th grade. I'd love to have him. His oldest brother was an even better athlete but didn't have the me durables that cole has. His older brother lance had offers from Colorado Souter min Arizona but chose to stay at ull. Where he played wr before moving to safety then to mlb. While excelling at all. Arkansas had offered cole and I hope lsu does bc I don't want him I the opposing team.

Looks good, but LSU is going out of state it seems with Franks committed and offering the kid from Maryland.

I think he's saying Harris is a pass first QB. Not sure though because he can definitely scoot and is a fine dual threat.

I just read an advocate article about that and that goes back to not being out at that time of night where stuff like that can happen. Don't know if he was involved in the vandalism or not, but hopefully he's learned his lesson over that tragedy. Hopefully it's made him mature faster.

Yeah Mett could really move. So damn fast.

Plus Franks is a pass first QB who plays under center, he has mobility, but is a true pro style QB. Him and Kelly are very comparable.

Who Rivers and Rettig? Rivers was 3rd on the depth chart here and we all saw his skills at Vandy. Rettig had trouble adjusting to playing under center, which is fairly common these days. Taking 3/5 steps drops isn't easy.

Damn man. Harris is a WAY better dual threat than Jennings. If he could run the plays consistently and take snaps under center, he would have started every game.

I think if we want a 2nd qb and miss on Patterson and Haskins, it will probably be Joe Randall or Deuce Wallace that gets the nod.

i've been to a couple of his playoff games and grew up with his coach (sonny charpentier). cole is a big guy who seems poised in the pocket. he does have good mobility for someone so big. he has had issues...but appears to be righting the ship. his coach was a 2 time first team all state quarterback... and same in basketball as a guard. he was jake delhomme's quarterback coach years ago in high school. jake attributed a lot of his success to sonny. i believe sonny has taken cole under his wing. if cole is smart he will pick sonny's brain just as sonny picked his legendary high school football coaches (dick mccloskey) brain back in the '70's.

Not mobile enough to run the offense at LSU. Needs to work on his foot speed and mobility in the pocket.

We need some guys who don't have the expectation that they can QB an SEC offense straight out of high school. When reality slaps them in the face they want to leave or have a poor attitude which impacts the whole team. We need to look for guys who are willing to learn and are teachable and don't think they know it all. It really takes a few years on the bench to mature at this position for most players.

I Don't know what offense you're watching but we didn't need mobility at the QB position all year. We needed someone to go through progressions or complete a intermediate pass.

We went to that zone read crap after it was our only resort to move the ball.
