What is proper etiquette for the recruits to inform the losers in the battle for the player?
Is there a set time period before the public announcement? I would guess that coaching staff knows LC choice before the game announcement. Also if they are informed earlier are they obligated to keep it secret? If a prospective recruit knew that another prospective recruit was out of the picture that could influence his decision so is it ok for the coaches to divulge such info.

some recruits tell coaches prior to an announcement, some dont.

he's said he will tell the coaches on wednesday, I think, unless its changed

they arent really obligated, but I doubt our coaching staff is gonna call scike, shea, and gino on speed dial and inform them ASAP after LC lets them know.

Word will leak, I'm sure. Not officially, but we'll have an idea before he puts on the hat.

It will definitely leak and the most telling signs will be the Bama reactions Wednesday Night and during the day Thursday. If they are still extremely confident and basically bragging then it's Bama. If they have gotten the word it's LSU then it will be clearly obvious by either their change in attitude or some of the most confident guys just will not be posting.

Only a few "legendary" LSU people will know either way and the guys that follow recruiting know who those guys are. It will depend on how they guard the info. It could be Kiel like where it starts to leak out and gets everyone either excited or pissed or they could keep it to themselves and make the rest of us wait until it's public.

My guess is that if it's bad news for LSU things will leak out to try to stave off the meltdown. If good news they'll keep us on edge until he announces to make the announcement and excitement more dramatic and satisfying. Just my take but really just guessing off experience and past history with things in these situations.

Proper etiquette? Of course it is to inform the schools before you announce, especially if it is late in the process. However as in all walks of life, not everyone uses proper etiquette. Some are stupid enough to not inform the school of their choice and since all offers are contingent, some of those end up with egg on their face when they are turned down.

I didn't speak with Landon's father yesterday, but a respected poster on another board did.

I can't add any more or I would be violating membership privileges.

its fine, I know of people that spoke with collins father regularly for weeks, IRL.

Thats my biggest issue with some "sources" on here, who were basically saying they knew the same people I did but were reporting other info.

But to answer the OP, you would have to think the schools are absolutely obligated to keep it to themselves, and allow the recruit to break the news however he or she wants.

The coaches at lsu can't keep a secret especially miles. If we hear nothing up til his announcemen, I think it favors Alabama.

Talking about LC of course

Gunner Kiel informed the coaches of all teams involved before his decision was made public.

However, Tim Jernigan let Jimbo Fisher & Les Miles know where he was going at the same time he announced it to us publicly.

So there is no set procedure. Some do. Some don't. Remember, these are just kids making those decisions.

But it is certainly more considerate & classier to let the coaches know in advance of the public rejection or commitment.

I'm not so sure about this. It seemed like the Kiel leaks were coming from Indiana.

In the past there were several big time guys that committed seemingly out of the blue. Peterson and Montgomery are two that spring up in my mind. I remember reading that they had told the coaches ahead of the public commitment.

After a while you learn to read between the lines of the people who have access to the coaches info..

"keep it on the DL"...the coaches ask...

so to keep the paid subscribers happy and honor the coaches wishes they share tidbits until they get the go ahead with the story ...they hand feed conflicting stuff to keep you guessing..but after a while you can break the code.

i think sources close the staff get better inside info (Shea, TL, DP ext), then what we got when saban was here.

And it's really just my opinion, which doesn't mean shite
