Coach Ed Orgeron commented on recruiting yesterday during his weekly appearance on ESPN’s Off the Bench radio program. “We have some tremendous relationships with all our commitments,” he said. “We have a great class right now, and I think we’re fixing to get some good news in a week or two. We’re gonna be getting some big guys in the next couple of weeks.”

Man this has to be promising right? Sounds like he’s extremely confident here! Leigh and Smith maybe?

Not Smith not Leigh....I am extremely confident with Smith however. But Leigh is still a dog fight and Korey, LSU, USC, and Clemson(yes they will be back in it after this visit).

Dont think it's anything earth shattering in meaning. ESD is in 3 weeks so I have a feeling that's what he's referring to. O and the staff being confident going into ESD isn't anything new. They always are and it can go either way with 3-4 kids. The rumor mill between ESD and Jan 2 is gonna be insane. Foreman, Smith and Leigh likely all sign and announce later meaning schools will know one way or another most likely.

Foreman is apparently signing early but announcing at the all American game, like Evans was supposed to do if he wasn’t a nut job, so I don’t think it’s him. Maybe Masson and an OL?

all American game

I thought they canceled all the all-star games because of Corona and such?

Could be wrong

They did, but the networks that would normally carry the game will have a 2 hour special where recruits can commit on national TV.

Thought I read that the All American game was cancelled because of Covid. Maybe it was the Under Armor game.

Could be. January 2nd is when he’s announcing then, thought it was some sort of all American game.

I swear his judgment has to at least be questioned a little after this statement.

No, I dont believe that.

He gave dave aranda total autonomy with the defense.

I think you say that to try to give your team confidence and quell any fears

Too much is being made of this. Y’all act like he’s the first coach to be confident in his team. Every Coach is overconfident in pre-season.

It was coach speak.

You know it was because they were telling recruits they would struggle this year

Did they know the new DC hire would be as bad as he has been?

They probably expected Pelini to field a competent, top 50 defense. At the same time, they knew they would struggle, at least compared to expectations.
