For as highly rated a player as Williams is, he seems to be flying under the radar insofar as there is not as much buzz about his recruitment compared to some lesser ranked players LSU is after that you hear more about. Why is that?

As best I can tell, Williams projects at safety, a position where LSU could use some young depth. He is a Bama commit who did not sign with Bama in the early period, why he did not sign is not clear. Was his offer not commitable? Too much talent in front of him at that position? There just isn’t that much info out there.

The info that is out there suggests he willl not sign with Bama and that LSU is his leader. This is a top 150 kid on most sites. I think our other db commits project as corners, so this would be a good get for LSU at a position where after this year could be thin.

And it would be a player from Alabama we take from Alabama. Where’s the buzz?

Would be a nice get.

The difference between LSU and Alabama is mostly along the LOS. Until we start winning battles on that front it will be more of the same the first Saturday in November.

He's not ranked so highly anymore...was a high 96-something just a couple months ago...then he didn't sign with Alabama in the early period, and he gave some hints that he might be LSU bound.

Hence the drop over 3 full points.

Yeah he’s still highly rated with a 93 grade, and around the 150th best player. Word is he’s a silent commit to us right now. I’m expecting he signs with us.

He's a really big get and I'm excited to have him in the class. He's exactly the type of player I felt we needed with Hampton being a question mark to make it to campus.

My gut feeling is that he could have signed with Bama, but that they were still going pretty hard after other guys and it made Williams question his place in the class, so he decided to hold off and take his visits.

I feel that Williams will be in this class.

You may have provided me the most accurate information and the best 'sauce' of this cycle.

Your original post was a few months the ago and that was the first I had heard of CW as a possibility.

Thanks and much respect to you.

Bama did want.

Then he processed Bama for LSU.

He didn't sign with Bama.

He will sign with LSU.

I agree that what you said is a possibility. Bama thought they were getting 5* safety Dax Hill in the early signing period, but he flipped back to Michigan. Maybe Williams didn't like that?

If he was a Louisiana kid flipping to bama (role reversal) there would be huge hype/melt like Landon Collins

If he was the same caliber player with a similar ranking to Collins, then yes...but that snot the case.

bama is still owning us and most everyone else this cycle...we can only hope we're making progress so as to catch up at some point in the future.

Yep, they been owning Clemson in the recruiting rankings too. Just not on the field.

Right, was just talking about recruiting.

If we finish with a couple of the elite DE's and with Parker the OT, we'll be truly making headway. Until we begin matching them or getting close to matching them on the lines, we'll all be sitting here talking about the same stuff.
