UPDATE: Grayson McCall committed to NC State a couple days ago. Let’s see if Fancher still takes/took that trip and if LSU is still pursuing. AJ Swann from Vandy is also visiting this weekend.
SOURCE: Marshall's Cam Fancher is expected to take visits this week to LSU and NC State. The rare multi-year starter w/ multi-years of eligibility left. Herd coaches say he's talented and very tough. 247 1st reported the visits.
-Per Bruce Feldman
Quick look at stats show he has 22 TDs and 17 INTs past 2 seasons where he got meaningful time
Also interesting he’s taking visits to LSU and NC State. MJ Morris, another LSU target is a QB transfer from NC State.

The 6-foot-1, 201-pound sophomore put enough on tape over his 17 starts at Marshall to intrigue Power 5 recruiters. Fancher threw for 3,720 yards, rushed for 739 yards and scored 26 total touchdowns during his time there and led the Herd on a five-game win streak to finish the 2022 season at 9-4.
He had a tougher time this season while dealing with injuries, was benched late in the year and finished with 11 interceptions, though coaches say many weren’t his fault. But that hasn’t discouraged some big-time programs from reaching out to the dual-threat talent.
One Sun Belt coach said Fancher is accurate, has more than enough arm strength and offers a lot of athletic ability in the pocket to make plays. He also has two more seasons of eligibility. NC State and LSU are bringing him in on visits this week.

It’s gonna be very interesting to see which QB we take. Love an experienced player, but also needs to be open to coaching like JD was. Makes a world of difference

People on coaching changes board want Chevis Jackson to the our DBs coach… guess where he’s coaching? Marshall. We also took Andre Sam in the portal… he also came from Marshall. There’s some familiarity there.

We shall see. We need someone not afraid to compete for the job but willing to stay if they lose. They need to have some level of mobility. Tough to find that kind of person.

I’m from WV (not a Marshall fan). My brother in law in Huntington says their QB was awful this year and held them back. I watched them against JMU and their QB play was trash, but that might not have been him? Maybe he had an injury or something, but if this is the guy, there’s no way he should be a take.

Yeah, Marshall’s passing game was a struggle this season.

FWIW he outplayed MJ Morris when their teams played each other this season. And I'm sure Marshall was nowhere near as talented as NCSU was on defense

Personally I want MJ Morris and out of the two I still think Nuss beats him out. Give him a full off-season with the 1s and Nuss will light it up. Just needs to put on weight and build muscle so he can scramble and be a bigger threat with his legs.

Read in another thread Morris might be headed to Maryland. Mike Locksley did a pretty good job with Tua’s brother.

That was Fancher against JMU, and I agree with your conclusion- He’s not a starting SEC quarterback, imo, or really anything even close to that.
This would be for depth behind Nuss and would cement Nuss as the clear plan for 2024

I think whoever we bring in will be a similar situation to Alabama bringing in the nd qb Buchner this past off season . Maybe not the same type player but the same level of qb or for the same reason although we may have more confidence in nuss then they did in milroe this time last year

AJ Swann and Fancher may potentially be on a visit to LSU around the same time. Not sure if Fancher visited or will still visit NC State, with Grayson McCall committing there a few days back.
