I wanted to mention that Casey Sanders was a finalist for the LSU job, but that would have been too arrogant. JJ27, what TCU player from WM was actually offered and pursued heavily by LSU?

Thus far? None. Couple they should've taken, but didn't. I wasn't speaking to WM kids. I was speaking to this attitude that kids should automatically go to LSU just because they offered. That LSU shouldn't have to show equal interest as other schools just because a kid was born in Louisiana. That's a terrible stance and one that definitely took place during the past regime.

O seems to be very different. He's constantly selling LSU to recruits and all of the things that make LSU great. Not just, "Hey you were born here so that's it. You're going here." I know some like to take shots at him on here, but he's actually such a better person than he's given credit. I really think he will do great things here because he loves LSU.

Didn't a couple of our punters including Chris Jackson do that under Saban. Or was that the Miles era. Honestly can't remember.

I still remember LSU taking Mickey Johnson over Chucky Hunter. That was a mistake. Also felt it was a mistake to least not offer Terrell Lathan and McFarland too.

This kid is a naturally gifted athlete with the grit & determination it takes to be great. I can think of very few high school athletes that can do as many different things as he does and at a comparable elite level. If we lose him we will probably still have an outstanding class but I'm telling you now, watching his play wearing a different uniform will leave you with a sick feeling for the loss of his signature.

Agreeing wholeheartedly. Assuming that the "local reports" are true, and we have no reason not to think so, that Canada just hasn't shown that much interest in Bolden comparatively speaking I'm somewhat confused.

In Canada's O, which involves a lot of motion and slight-of hand to create mis-matches you would think a player like Bolden would be much sought after. The idea that he can line up anywhere as a WR or RB and is a threat to run or catch on any given play (and has been doing so for a while) has to be at a premium.

Isn't being offered one of very few scholarships love enough?

Seems you just want a ticket to get on campus. Then work so hard you can't be left off the field.

There is almost zero way to know where a lot of kids will be in 3 to 5 years. Hell Chark is our best wideout.

I hope that if he wants to be at LSU he comes to LSU. I hope he doesn't choose another school because he felt more love or had a better vibe from his recruiter.

This goes for every recruit

I wish we would've offered Kavontae Turpin too.

I remember that time when certain posters in this thread said Chark only got an offer over Sims because he was from south Louisiana and Sims was from NELA. Geography and evaluations be damned.

Ditto. Most of the posters here are located in the southern half of the state and are naturally more informed on the players there. That said, there is a vast amount of talent in the northern half as well as evidenced by the LHSAA playoffs every year - a fact not lost on LSU opponents & other big time programs. The sheer truth is, the area has historically been treated much the same as out-of-state prospects by LSU being, only the very top named (read, those highly publicized) receive much attention. The camps are a huge boost to showcase talent but they have limitations. It can be frustrating to watch some of these kids their entire lives prove themselves every game on the field & every day in class, in the weight room & in life and then garner more attention from OOS schools. I think Coach O has made a lot of progress toward becoming a real presence in this part of the state but there's more work to do. Bolden will be an overwhelming success wherever he goes & nobody is pulling harder for it to be LSU than those of us local - including, me.

Agreed! Both of my parents are from Monroe so I've always kept up with players from the area and really every year there are atleast 2 or 3 players just from the Monroe area worth an offer from LSU and rarely get it. Like you said north Louisiana really produces a lot of talent and needs to be more of a priority for our staff and Orgeron has done just that. Like JJ said Johnson is in charge of North LA and that alone will help us in the long run. He has turned out to be a great recruiter and coach. But again like you said I hate when prospects are judged just off their size and things like that. If the kid plays like Turpin and produces huge numbers weekly you don't pass up on him due to size. He had all the talent needed for an offer and is now a star at tcu I mean could you imagine him in Canada's offense..

I guess I need to add Casey Sanders to my ongoing list of "legendary potential high school hall of fame weight lifting coaches that almost got a job at LSU"

Bolden could be at LSU what Bo was at Auburn.

That's almost sacrilegious. Even if this is an LSU board.
