Just read the article Shea posted and nowhere does he mention Bates going silent…. Unless I completely missed it and some other posters on the on3 message boards did too, then that Vols page is making stuff up…
Edit: Bates as of last night hadn't responded to BILLY, not necessarily the LSU staff. But given that Shea just apparently talked to him for that article, who knows what that means. Little misleading by that Vols account.

I used to love to follow recruiting. With all of the NIL and transfer portal stuff now, it’s getting very hard to keep track of everything

The portal really changed everything. I am still invested for now but couple more years may change.

The major change, early signing day, they use to have the Bayou Recruiting Bash years ago. Now, most of the guys sign in December, enrolling early, playing in the Spring Game. But like you say, the Portal was another change that hit.

I already started disliking it before all that came into play, kids started trolling and holding out to get more stars, the sites are willing participants because it drives traffic. Honestly not sure how anyone bothers keeping more than a mild finger on the pulse.
