Bryce Brown to take unofficial vist to LSU

Per a local Wichita news station. There was an interview with Bryce Brown and his mentor on their sports talk show and this is what he said.
Bryce Brown Interview
So on the show, Bryce was on with Brian Butler... On Tennessee, said he had a good visit, "lots of nice people down there." Also says "he spend lots of one on one time with Coach Kiffin talking about the offense and how he would fit in." He mentioned taking an "unofficial" visit to LSU in a couple weeks.
Lots of K-State homers calling in trying to pump him up on K-State but his reactions were luke warm.
He did sound upbeat about Oregon... talked about how the uniforms and "shoes you get," said "Oregon sells it self and they care about their players." He was impressed with how they handled Dennis Dixon's injury, especially how they set up a website for him giving the NFL scouts updates on the progress of his rehab, Bryce said that showed how much they care.
Bryce called the CFL rumors "non-sense."
Said he is going to announce on March 16th now.
This is also on the Tennessee board.

Wichita to Baton Rouge is a long arse way to go for an unofficial. If he does show, that would seem to be a good sign for LSU.

I honestly do not want him on our team. I don't think I have said that about a top prospect except for Willie Williams. This kid is bad news for a developing a TEAM IMO.

You have to be insane not to take this kid! are you serious? AS long as he's not going to get the school in trouble(which, as you know, would take a lot for a college athelete) then he is a must take. He's going to be a star in college, and in the NFL. RP was a good talent, but i could've understood if the coaches had said thanks but no thanks, but Bryce Brown is too physically gifted to pass on, regardless of anything.

perrilloux was every bit as talented as brown coming out of HS

I was a little worried about attitude problems at first, but it sounds like his only "problem" is his ego. Unlike RP, he's good in the classroom and he doesn't sound like he's out looking for trouble. Let's face it, an ego isn't the worst thing a player can have, and if he gets out of hand I trust the team will knock him down a peg.
Mr. Brown... Come on down...

Well we know he can beat a linebacker in man to man coverage without safety help over the top. Hopefully all the teams LSU play would implement this defense.

Miles has shown that if guys like RP aren't team players, he will not have them on his team.
Brown has been very classy in every single interview, and his footage is other-worldly. The only negatives have been what his coach has said about him (and that has been contested) and just having Butler around as a "handler" (which Authur Brown had as well...and note: Miami is not on probation).
There is no harm in bringing in the best running back prospect since Adrian Peterson. He has the all-around game of Edgerrin James.

Still don't want him at LSU. Well, I at least don't give a shite. He is a really good football player, can't look past that.

From all of his comments, it really sounds as if he likes Oregon the most. Now I don't know if he is just leading people on to create even more hype about his recruiting visits, but he has said much more positive things about the Ducks than anywhere else.
Bryce clearly has an inflated ego, but most elite high school stars think too highly of themselves. They might not call press conferences to announce where they are going to take VISITS, but that is mostly because they don't have moronic handlers who encourage that kind of behavior.
As long as Brian Butler is not hanging out at the practice field of wherever Bryce goes to school, I think he will be fine. He is clearly talented and a pretty intelligent guy.

I'm not getting my hopes up at all for this guy, but it seems that we have an outside shot, and that would be great. But if he doesn't come here, which is highly likely, im going to be just fine as long as he's out of the SEC. We have plenty solid prospects for next year if we don't get him. But you have to want him: he's pretty incredible on film.

I doubt he will end up in the SEC. He has been looking at Kansas State, Oregon, and Missouri, and Miami for the past few months, and he recently eliminated Missouri.
Then, right after NSD, he decides to look into USC, LSU, and Tennessee, which has been in the media more than any losing team in the history of NCAA football. I think that this recent visits are just to increase his status outside the Midwest. He will go on these visits, say positive things about each of our programs, then eliminate us and focus on Oregon, Miami, and K-State again.

so whenever he commits will Brown and NCAA investigators just carpool to his school of choice?

Can someone inform me on why he has this inflated ego? Because he didn't sign on NSD, which is not a requirement by any means? Because he made a mistake in committing early to a college and never took all of his visits? Someone fill me in on this ego of his
To me, I see a great RB who does everything well. The one knock on him on scout is his hands, which he proved wrong in the AA game by catching a number of passes. Also, if the brother is unhappy at Miami (which I don't think he is, but who knows), it would be great to reel him in too

it's more of a knock on his handlers, than Brown.....but that's where trouble often starts.

I would take BB in a heartbeat....he seems to have no character issues from what I have seen. He has had not just a handler but a mentor and trainer. That is a characteristic of greatness. Look at Tiger Woods, Pete Maravich, Bobby Fischer and any individual who has eventually gone to be a great performer in any discipline. They all had incredible discipline and they had trainers devoted to helping them improve. He has also shown discipline in the classroom which is a good sign. Who cares about ego. All I care about is his work ethic and his desire to get better and better and do what it take to improve in everyway as a running back. With that said I think he goes to Oregon, unfortunately.

Bryce Brown
quote:
Sharing the spotlight and the drama of the decision is Brian Butler, who identifies himself as the Brown brothers’ trainer and manager. To get to Bryce Brown, coaches must go through Butler. He handles Brown’s workouts, recruiting and news media requests.
quote:
Butler, a former rapper and cellphone call-center manager, is among a new breed of entrepreneurs inserting themselves into college football recruiting. Some say he is navigating gray areas of N.C.A.A. rules and brokering his clients’ futures for personal gain.
quote:
Many coaches in the city of Wichita have discouraged or prohibited Butler from training their players, and Butler acknowledges that most of his business comes from the suburbs. Byers said Butler disrupted his program and got into the Brown brothers’ heads by promoting a selfish approach, which he described this way: “We’re not going to worry about what happens with the team. If we can do what we need to do and the team wins, fine, but we just need to take care of ourselves.”
quote:
During his junior season, Bryce Brown did not even stretch with his teammates, Byers said. Brown went with his teammates to a team camp at Pittsburg State last summer but did not participate because he was concerned about being hurt.
quote:
“It’s always been him and then everybody else,” Byers said. “Our team chemistry was nonexistent.”
quote:
Butler said he would explore the possibility of Brown’s skipping college and going to the Canadian Football League next season if approached by a team. He mentioned the idea of a team paying Brown $5 million a year for three years. But the salary cap for entire C.F.L. teams is $4.2 million Canadian. “If they were talking about any amount of real money,” Butler said, “I’d guarantee it.”

So do you think BB high school team was better or worse with him being on the field. lol
Also who is to say that Byers is worth a crap as a coach.
Who cares if a trainer or mentor makes some money on the process. It doen't not mean that he has not helped BB and his brother become better players.
If BB does not live up to the team concept he will not play at LSU. No biggie. Miles is a team man. Since he is going after BB I think that maybe he might know just a little more than you do in evaulating talent and a winner.
