They are doing a ceremony and everything. Usually a good sign for us with Louisiana recruits. I want him in more than anything to just shut the aggies up for a little while.

A ceremony for a Louisiana recruit means nothing lol I can't even tell you how many ceremonies I've watched where these guys pick up a hat that is some shade of red. But yes, I would love this kid to pick up the home team's hat

He’s really tight with Chris Hilton. Hopefully that plays in his decision as well.

How do yall know that its not LSU?

He could have watched the Super Bowl and said, "damn look at all those LSU alumni not only playing but making an impact, I want to go there."

Every so called recruiting experts I have heard has said Brian is Quiet and seldom says anything. The drama has been created by by so called fans pretending they know something.

Even the stories and rumors are all about the Dad, not the kid. It’s a strange situation, no doubt.

I didn't say Thomas wasn't a no brainer take! I responded saying that we aren't loaded at WR. I still say we are!

Not true

Sophomore* Jenkins
Sophomore* Palmer
True* freshman Boutte
True* freshman Moore
True* freshman Adams
True freshman Hilton
True freshman Smith
True freshman Nabers
True freshman Bech (who I think will be a TE)

We will have guys that can declare for the draft after 2021, but we don't have any that project to leave after 2021 unless something crazy happens.

The only one on that list who has proven anything is Boutte. Bech will work with the TEs. Nabers will work with the DBs.

Thomas is a take. This isn’t debatable.

I think his relationship with Hilton might win the day for LSU. Also, anyone who doesn’t want Thomas as a tiger or wants to just move on and save the spot is a moron. We don’t have anyone on the team like him right now and picking up a player of his caliber at this stage in the cycle is huge. There is no one in the portal with his potential. Just because he didn’t commit to LSU a year ago and never waver doesn’t mean he has created a bunch of drama. Welcome to big time recruiting.

If you are talking about smaller quick twitch guys that can beat you in space and down the field, you are correct in this assessment. But if you are talking about a taller, possession, point of attack type guy like Marshall, Tolliver, Byrd type WR, we are severely lacking.
Bama hasn't had one of those type of guys since 2017 and all they did since then was finish 3rd, 2nd, and 2nd in scoring offense from 2018-2020. Bama's pass offense has also been 6th, 3rd, 3rd in that span with nothing but speedy quick twitch guys that have won 2 of 3 biletnikoffs.

I think Boutte definitely proved he can be a big time WR. It wasn't just Ole Miss that he torched. He made big plays vs. Florida and Alabama once Marshall threw in the towel and LSU needed a #1 option.

Jenkins made plays last year and showed he's probably ready for an increased load. Moore wasn't flashy, but he made some reliable plays. I'm not saying they are suddenly going to turn into All SEC players next season (maybe Boutte) but I don't think we saw the explosion coming from Chase and Marshall following the 2018 season (even though they both showed flashes during that season).

Beyond that their is room for a Brian Thomas because of his physical abilities. Boutte and Moore are on the shorter side. Same for Hilton. Having a bigger body could get him on the field.

Is WR a desperate position of need? Probably not. But you don't turn a good one away (unless there are non-football reasons to do so)

None have done much of anything other than Boutte, but neither has Thomas at the college level. He would be just another unproven freshman receiver among the other unproven freshmen receivers we will have.

All of our freshmen receivers have potential at the college level to be good but none of them have proven anything yet.

We need one more good O-Lineman, and a linebacker with the speed and mobility to drop into coverage and be proficient at it. If we get Thomas, that's great, but he is a luxury not a necessity. An O-lineman and a linebacker are much more of a need on this roster as it currently sits, than another WR in my opinion.

So what you’re saying is there’s Boutte and... the field. Wide open for BTJ

Not really. Unless something really changes, the top 3 will be Boutte, Jenkins, and Moore in the slot. The fact that people expect something different from that is kinda surprising. And if Palmer ever figures it out, he'll probably be starting over Jenkins

Jenkins is the only WR on that list with BTJ's length. Bech is going to be a hybrid WR/TE and he's only 6'2. Everyone else is 6'0 at best. Some play longer than that but are still not nearly as long as BTJ.
what does this have to do with anything when Bama was dogging teams for 3 years with featherweights?

Who said he wasn't a take? We're debating on how loaded the group is, and the WR group is LOADED!

Nobody knows this. It could be Hilton, Smith, or Nabers, hell could be Bech if they don't switch him.

I agree with everything here. Although Chase looked like a future star as a freshman. Dude was a beast. Man amongst boys. Really wish we could’ve watched him in the purple and gold for another season, but I think he made the right decision for his future and don’t knock him for it at all.
