When your only other offer is Troy...their is cause for concern. Offers, IMO, are the biggest measuring stick of how good a potential prospect is. Every now and then someone falls under the radar...but this dude hasn't picked up offers from ANYONE. Hell, even Claiborne was starting to gather heat last year and he was considered under the radar...

His only other offer was Troy. This might be a slight cause for concer also.

Its funny that video cameras worked well enough to get Ben Obomanu offers from LSU, AU, UF etc like 8 years ago but technology in Selma I guess has regressed since then. Or maybe his parents owned the only camera and are hogging it still to this day.

maybe dandy don can spend some of his bonus money to buy Selma a tripod instead of getting more mink coats and jet skis.

Is it possible that since LSU was his first, and really only major school to offer, that he has declined to talk to other major schools? Just a thought.

Is it that special time of the year again?

You'd think someone other than LSU would have word of mouth by now...hell, even a small college? Places will still offer him even if hes "not interested".
If I was Blackmon...I'd be telling all the imaginary colleges offering me not interested too when I got a free ride to LSU.

People talk about Selma like the place is straight out of Deliverance and perhaps it is. But still, Selma is a 5A school; it is not some tiny shed of a school. They have produced recruits before like Obomanu, who managed to garner enough attention inside the Selma black hole to get a 5-star rating.
When he first committed, some people were saying that he would bolt when his offer from Auburn or bama came. Well, they did not offer then and they are not offering now. Everyone who follows recruiting knows how much quality D-line talent is coveted. I find it hard to believe that this guy is a hidden gem when he plays in the heart of SEC country, surrounded by SEC schools, and all (except LSU) choose to pass. Moreover, C-USA schools show no interest. Other than his LSU ticket, he holds an offer from a Sun Belt team.
I have nothing against Blackmon; I just don't think he is good enough to play in the SEC. There is absolutely no buzz around this guy. The coaches like him and nothing would make me more happy than for them to prove me wrong. I really hope that happens.

After next year,he'll just be there for depth, anyway. Iffy pick-up at best IMO.

This isn't exactly what I was expecting. I'm sitting here thinking I missed something, but as it turns out there hasn't been anything to miss...

I think the coaches like him as a project.. doesn't he have the frame to play any spot on the DL?
Versatility is underrated IMO. If he's capable of backing up 2-3 different spots he's worth the scholly even if he never starts.

Didn't know Selma was 5A. You would think he would get plenty of exposure against big schools then. I guess he's like that offensive lineman out of Georgia our coaches were after so hard, but never cut it here. I think his name was Singleton or something.

Why bother with a project when you have 4 DT in Louisiana next year that will be 4-5 star players? Hell you had a 4 star that's damn near in LA beg to come to LSU and get shunned for Blackmon. The selection really doesn't make sense with the other players available. Reminds me of last year with Christine Michael. Looks pretty good right now against UGA.

Would look pretty good behind Ridley with Ford. Murphy doesn't look like he's gonna make the curve.

He hasn't been offered by Auburn because of the guys they are after. They are really close to getting to top guys in Georgia,Thornton and Whitaker.Alabama may not have offered because they seem to be hitting at the best palyers in the country and getting most of them. The coaches like him and a few guys I know from Alabama say that he has potential just needs to be coached. We'll see when he gets here and proves himself.Al Woods was a 5* that didn't contribute until this year so it really is just a crapshoot. Some develop and some don't.It happens to every school.Blackmon is rated higher on Rivals than the dt Auburn has committed.Kenneth Carter I think his name is.

Just used his speed to get to the corner then made some nice cuts and slashed in for a TD.
Sorry for the hijack.

I liked the way he went back to hi five all 10 of the other guys as they came off the field. Can't say I'm not jealous.
