Hindsight is 20/20… did we even know what Maason Smith and Wingo were doing yet with the NFL at that point?

No, however I think BK either doesn't realize that whiffing on defensive transfers in the summer of 22 and 23 likely kept us from a championship, or we didnt/don't have the NIL money left to buy top defensive prospects. We were a few pieces away from winning it all last year. Anyone with half a brain understands those missing pieces were on defense. It's almost like he has it set in his head to focus on outscoring rather than spending whatever is necessary in the portal and in recruiting for both sides of the ball to be elite.

I can’t stand the way NIL is set up or the current Wild West portal, but as they say “it is what it is”. LSU needs to pay to play, it’s as simple as that.

They probably offered more. LSU fans do not give at the rate of Ole Miss or Bama. Not to mention, BK is trying to build a lasting program, OM is betting on this year. Which is why they are spending money like there's no tomorrow.

Nolan committed in Dec. Wingo and Maason both declared in Jan.
