These are good stats for a TE.

Agreed. Especially considering the lack of talent and lack of a good QB at aTm. He was not a bust.

Does that look like a 5 star stud to you?

Thats good for 1st team All-SEC last year. Those are better numbers across the board than what Jared Cook put up last year, and Cook wasn't even really a TE as he was basically used as an inside WR in a spread offense.

A guy who ends up being the best at his position in his conference AND good enough to enter the NFL draft as a JR and end up as a 2nd round pick is in no way a bust, no matter how many stars he had. The TE iis one position in which stats greatly depend on the offense.

Al Woods played well against UW. Not his fault the scheme was shitty. That was clearly the best game he's played at LSU, considering how bad he was the last three years.

If we get rid of that 3 man line going forward, Woods and especially Alem are going to make a lot of people eat their words IMO.

Couldn't/Wouldn't leave the weed alone..Fulmer gave him chance after chance and finally had to kick him off the team.

both of these guys had solid years and were drafted in the NFL. dont know if they would fall under "bust".

Apparently no one read my full post.

Yes, they were solid.

Would you say Derrick Williams was the best player in College football?

Patrick Turner the 2nd or 3rd best?

I didn't think. They are busts compared to what they were supposed to be.

Except he wasn't best in his conference. He was 2nd team All Big 12.

And I disagree that the TE depends on the offense. If you have a great weapon you use it. Look at Gresham at OU. Look at Kellen Winslow at Miami.

Bennett is an athletic freak, but he was often maligned, including during his rookie year, for having a poor work ethic. I think he's a superb talent, but I don't think he's lived up to his billing yet... which is why I labeled him a "bust".

Dan, Bennett looked like a stud both last year and in the preseason this year. The only thing holding him back now is Witten.

I do agree, he was a total dog at AtM and basically didn't play. But "Hard Knocks" apparently shook him up, bc I saw him doing very well last year.

500 yards from a TE is good in CFB

you have to be a focal point to get much more than that

This may be beyond the 5 year mark, but I think that Xavier Carter was a bust - excellent speed and size, but poor hands, agility, and desire.
