Paul said this am on OTB that Tennessee is led by "...Vitello who is a power recruiter".
Paul just needs to recruit more. And recruit like his job is on the line.
Project, i love your baseball input, but you are wrong about this one. there is no way anyone can tell a potential recruit that they are lucky to be in his office. period. mental pu$$y or not, you simply do say that to a kid that you want to play on your team.
Paul has a full time coach that basically is paid to recruit. and nolan does it well. but this forces the hitting coach to not technically be a full time coach. there is simply no excuse for this.
i am a huge LSU baseball fan, just not much of a Paul fan.

Same
but this:

.
Is something we will just have to disagree on.
Too many people are thinking he's being arrogant about himself when he says this. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and going with him being arrogant about the LSU program when he says this.
And I firmly believe that any kid is lucky to be in the office of the HC of LSU baseball being recruited. There is nothing wrong with that. A lot of random coincidences (luck) combined with hard work and skill put someone in that position.

This is accurate, and I've heard that Mainieri has a high opinion of Vitello and reached out to him when he first got the UT job to offer advice. (I choose to believe it's because of their shared Italian lineage)
But Vitello is an absolutely tireless recruiter.

The kids that LSU has signed that are seniors this year were signed many years ago. Hell I know one that committed in 8th grade. Can’t take everyone

With the exception of the JUCO guys and Grant Fontenot this is accurate.

Anyone who thinks this is a good way to convey leadership or build trust is dumb. Aside from the fact he hasn’t won anything in over a decade, it’s just a pathetic thing to say. If this story is true, it’s no wonder his teams suck and is even more reason to terminate him.

Yeah with the roster and scholarship issues, coupled with the recruiting cycle being pushed so far forward, you’re bound to miss on some players. Especially if they develop later. A CUSA school is getting what I think is a huge steal this year and could be one that people see playing in a regional in a few years and wonder what happened.

I mean, the guy who coaches the kid now hasn’t won shite ever. But continue reaffirm your hatred based of what is likely a misquote from a third hand story.

You’re a real Negative Nancy these days

I just get tired of people rehashing the same bullshite narratives based on their feelings instead of facts.

Just to make sure you’re aware, you’re calling me negative in a thread where I have the more positive outlook on the state of the program compared to the people disagreeing with me.

Don't want to play for a zombie like Pulmonary.

Maybe you could consider Louisiana 2021 and 2022 are friggin loaded with baseball talent and as such lots of kids will be signing D1 around us.
Eta: 2023 too, for that matter.

but if he didn't feel fortunate to be recruited by LSU then who gives a shite. Being recruited by LSU is an honor. If he took offense to the coach saying that, that's a him problem.
Knowing the amount of work it takes to become a high recruited D1 prospect, being told you’re “lucky” is a fricking insult.

I know a kid from BR who went to Miss State at a position of need last year.
BTW, I think I just realized I know this kid personally and issues he’s faced along the way to get where he is makes it a fricking insult x100.
But Pucker Paul wouldn’t know that because of the exact recruiting/give-a-shite attitude we see from him.

Only to people too stupid to realize that even with hard work and talent they’re still lucky. Even just based on fricking geography the kid was lucky. He could have lived in Nome, Alaska and never saw a d1 coach in his life.
And I acknowledged it also takes hard work and talent. But some of you people are so up your own arse about how arrogant Mainieri is you fail to think that he may have been selling the program by saying that.
Again, take the third hand word of a guy who feels slighted because some kid he knows whose arse wasn’t kissed.

Don’t ask Pawl he’s never seen any of them play......
Posted on 3/25/21 at 9:44 pm to ProjectP2294
Obviously LSU can’t sign everyone. I know there are some, but how many kids that left the state are doing really well at other power 5 schools? That’s a serious question. LSU doesn’t usually miss on in state kids they go after. They usually sign them
