When I say that, I’m not insinuating tPear isn’t detail oriented and works hard.
What I’m saying is that college basketball recruiting news is incredibly difficult to come by and typically you hear about efton Reid three weeks before he’s committing to lsu and no other time

Who are his best 3 evals?

These are Wade’s last two classes of guys that have suited up
Cam Thomas
Trendon Watford
James bishop
Charles manning
Deshawn Thomas
Wilkinson
Gaines
Cook
Penn-Johnson
Shareef ONeal
Leblanc
Outside of the 2 Cant Miss guys what do you have exactly ?
I’m not sure his strength is evaluating as much as it is closing. Wade almost always skims from the top, and the headline players on the roster are always guys he beats the historic schools for.
I’m not sure he is great at recruiting-to-fit & implementing roles. The mid-to bottom has not been that great. Lacks true role players that make up good rosters. In some cases has total voids at certain positions. I’m not sure this happens with truly great evaluators.
The bones are there, though. I still do not think Wade has had his breakthrough as a coach yet.

This year feels like the first time he has prioritized toughness and defense with his recruiting of bigs and guards....hope it pays off. Some of that may have been recruiting misses the last couple years

Was really quite good at George Washington this year. Wish he stuck around.
You'd want to say retention has been somewhat an issue for Wade here, but in the end he replaces so much with elite talent it's hard to care.

I thought the practice facilities were pretty new. Did we go on the cheap there like we did with the New Box?
Lester, you are about the most consistently negative poster on the board. Wade's overall record, SEC results, tournament results, etc. rival or beat any men's head basketball coach in the first 4 years of play at LSU. I question whether you would be happy if John Wooden was the coach. In the spectrum, there are those on the board who think Wade does nothing wrong. You seem to be on the opposite end. Have a good day! Be positive!

Think MW and Gaines can develop. I liked Cook
I was a big Manning and Bishop fan. D Thomas and BPJ are the only real throwaways on that list. LeBlanc and Shareef are contributing role players.
I think with this class he’s finally brought in a couple bigs that fit what he wants to do versus BPJ or Gray.
The structure of our rosters has been a little wonky at times but it’s usually got players at the top.

They played a crap schedule but he would have been useful as a backup guard for sure

I feel like Wilkinson is the only one of those guys with much of a future here, S
Leblanc has regressed.
Shareef & Fudge are redundant, I assume they favor the younger version.
Not sure what Gaines is. Do guys stick around when you are relegated to being a defensive first guard? When you can transfer without repercussions & potentially have the chance to shoulder some load offensively at another school?

Lester, what happened to KY last season? Is Cal's run coming to an end or was last season just an anomaly?
Who will be the scorers for LSU next season? Could someone like Brandon Murray be a huge surprise?

Its not "out of nowhere". Colbert committed like 2 years ago. Will is a really good talent evaluator. He had a really good big kid at Chattanooga for 2 years and another at VCU, who has been in the NFL for a few years (VCU does not play football). So when Will was an assistant at VCU (I live in Richmond and go to most of the games), there was a male assistant with the womens program. I broadcast their games..Mens & womens hoops shared an office suite. So Will became friends with Curt, the womens assistant. Lo and behold guess who Reid's HS coach was here for 3 years before he left for IMG - same guy - Curt. Will has been following Reid's career for like 6 years - when he was HC at VCU & the last 4 at LSU. Reid is the best player to come out of Richmond in 30+ years. Having been the HC at VCU and being friends with Curt it was only natural that Will recruited Efton. So while the media had not picked up on it i knew that Will had been recruiting Reid for years.
It's so easy for people to just say "Wade cheats" but in reality, he works hard, he's persistent and he follows a process. It's the same sort of process I've used over the last 15 years to build a legal practice. People joke with me because they say "you always get calls from new clients out of no where" because the call comes when I'm having lunch or home sick, etc. However, it was the 10 years of developing relationships that brought in that work. We could see it in Wade at his first press conferences - that there were similarities in what he said and did to Saban.

The success of Cal’s teams almost solely rely on freshmen. So if he doesn’t get the right ones, or they come in & lack maturity, it can go bad quickly.
I would say anomaly with the Covid year & such.

He took 15-20 shots per game and shot 43%..On 3s he was 34%. In their 3 toughest games he went 2-7 (0-3 on 3s) (SBU), 5-16 (0-3 on 3s) (Dayton), & 5-19 (1-5 on 3s) (VCU). That doesnt translate well to SEC caliber play..

I have posted stuff on here at different times about different recruting targets. I usually post in the recruiting thread..Ezewiro has also been committed for 2 years. If you arent in the top 50 and dont play for a big time HS program then you dont get much attention..We have 50 offers out for next year..There hasnt been a lot of high major talent in Louisiana the last few years so maybe thats why you arent hearing much about who LSU is recruiting ? On a national scale the coverage is good but the local guys there dont seem to put much effort into following LSU hoops recruiting.

Ezewiro is i intriguing to me. I think he will develop a nice shot.
I think alex fudge is going to be a really good player. He has everything you want in a player.
Has he put on any weight since being at lsu?
