LSU could have 3 McDonald's All Americans in this class if we close strong.

Mickey
Martin

First off very excited, about the news. Great class with the potential with Frazier and Martin to be unbelievable.

But everyone bashes Trent Johnson the man didnt do a terrible job recruiting overall, got 5 ESPN100 players during his tenure, the coaching was bad.

It is a new chapter and with all of the connections CJJ staff has and his recruiting ability, the future is bright. Lets just finish and get Frazier and Martin.

Derenbecker/Turner/Stringer were all Top 80 recruits. Jalen Courtney had other SEC offers. JOB was McD's All American.

Malcolm White and Justin Hamilton were starters on previous teams before transferring in. Hamilton was All SEC.

Johnson had some success in recruiting, and he seemed to have turned the corner with LSU but

1) he probably should have done more with his staff particularly after Richard left. And he brought that old guy out for one year.

2) No significant signees after that big first year, and

3) Hamilton's departure and only one recruit for 2012, his last year,

Collectively it all torpedoed his tenure.

Trent did some good things but Jones is already doing better recruiting in like 6 months than Johnson ever did.

Also per Rivals:

Derenbecker: 77th prospect overall
Turner: 142 overall
Stringer: 107 overall
Courtney: No overall rank. 3 star.

"His body has really toned up," he said. "He's really taken an interest in lifting weights. We got our new gym built at our school with a nice weight room, so he's been making a lot of use of it."

Martin (6-9, 220) has noticed recent high-profile pledges to LSU, including Rivals150 forward Jordan Mickey and point guard Tim Quarterman.

ESPN just ranked recruiting classes and put LSU at #17. Not bad.
