of the current recruits which ones are likely locks to sign?
I know Deshields is very likely to sign but don't know about the others.

It's too variable right now without knowing their draft positions yet, but guys to worry about include Gausman, Bedrosian, Deshields, Jones, Cecchini, Leblanc, possibly Southall and the kid from Chicago as well. I think we'll be okay with Marcus Davis, Ty Ross, Slaid, and some of the others.

eta: Those are just the names off the top of my head, I'm sure there are others to worry about.

Not locks but will be selected in the top 10 rounds.

To bad the MLB won't make a rule that forces you to go to college for 2 years. That would be awesome!

I'd rather keep it the way it is. I like having kids around for a minimum of 3 years if they end up going to college. I wouldn't want to lower that to two years, even if it meant that all high school players would have to go to college.

I think the following 8 are the best bets to sign:

Gausman
Bedrosian
Lee
Cecchini
Deshields
Jones
Leblanc
Southall

I think Deshields is probably a lock. The rest are very unlikely to show up in Baton Rouge but you can at least envision a scenario playing out to where they would.

Gausman's stock has dropped this Spring and he is probably out of the first round. He will be a draft eligible sophomore. Will he come here for two years to develop some offspeed pitches?

Many people see Bedrosian as a reliever. If he slips a little will he come to school to prove he can be a starter?

Lee is well documented.

Cecchini will be picked high but how much money is the team going to throw at him without seeing him due to the injury? He will also be a draft eligible sophomore.

There are some questions about Jones' position on the next level and he has a huge price tag given the Boras representation.

Leblanc and Southall probably won't be picked high enough to be considered an automatic sign, but they have other factors outside of baseball that may cause them to sign insted of coming to school.

Obviously we won't catch all those breaks, but I think there is a chance we can sneak one or two of those guys in.

I don't think we have nearly as much to worry about with the other 10:

Rumbelow
Eades
Slaid
Ross
Burris
Davis
Hopkins
Broussard
Koziol
McCune

MOT, you nailed it. LSU is going to have a top 15 class no matter what happens to those top 8 players, but if any of them fall it will resemble the 07 class.

I think leave it as is but have a rule that MLB has to sign a player by August 1st or sooner or lose their pick.

The fact that the university spent a lot of money recruiting and signing these players to have MLB sign them away is not right.
