Patrick didn't want to change his last name and be lost in the recruitment process with the switch. So he waited till he was at LSU then changed it from Johnson to Peterson.
Johnson was their fathers real name. Peterson is their step father who raised them. So Patrick wanted Peterson to be his last name.

Peterson is their father and Johnson is their mother. They were not married until a few years ago so the kids had the mother's last name.
There are no divorces, step dads, half brothers, or anything like that.

At first I couldn't believe this questions could be asked. Then if I realize if you have a normal life, and they have two different last names this place is where you would ask questions.

Full time job, married, one kid. Is that normal enough?
As you can tell, I've been a member of this board since July 2004, yet I only have 550 post. Not exaclty on here everyday. But still, I remembered the fact once I was remnded of the name change.

One thing good about Avery changing his last name legally, if he decides to do so is that he would be the one & only Avery Peterson & would not have to share the same name with the NBA basketball coach & former Southern University and San Antonio Spurs star point guard Avery Johnson.

Speaking of Dandy Don reporting on family members of former Tigers, I remember him saying "something" about Liffort Hobley's son on an update one time...but NEVER heard any more about it.
