Nope, I applaud your optimism. I hope the Tigers sign each and every one of these players.

Good coaches can do good things with great players.
Great coaches can do great things with good players.

This is the #1 reason why Saban is such an effective recruiter. He is indisputably the best active head coach right now.

While Orgeron does not hold a candle to Saban at a head coaching level, he certainly does (and exceeds) at a DL level. I honestly believe that O would have an advantage over Saban in Sopsher's personal development and potential. Hopefully that fact will pay dividends towards Sopsher's recruitment.

I've read so many post saying north Tangipahoa is not necessarily a pro LSU area of Louisiana. That isn't true at all. When you go anywhere in this area you see LSU hats, shirts, etc. everywhere. We are very much a part of LSU.

VERY good news. Players like these are the ones who are going to bring back championship football to LSU.

First off, I’m very encouraged by this news, and how it’s been reported the “barber” has moved on. However, I don’t doubt the Bama influence still exists in that area.

Bama’s recent successful run has been based largely on an absolute dominant DL. I would say O’s advantage there is nowhere as large as you would think it would/should be.

Consider the LSU 2003 starting DL:
Marcus Spears, Marquise Hill, Chad Lavalais, Kyle Williams. I would say they were developed just fine.

Saban has a long track record for recruiting and developing a talented DL.

The barber has NOT moved on. He drove Smith in the Amite parade. The fact is that he has very limited influence on Sopsher or Lee. The parents are very involved. Bama is on the outside looking in for all 3 Tangi players. FSU and A&M are bigger threats than Bama to LSU for these 3.

Lee wants to be recruited (shown the love) by LSU. He says that Saban called Smith every day. He wants the same love from LSU that smith got from Bama last year.

Sopsher is way overrated and isn’t a huge priority for Bama. He supposedly quit at their camp last year (according to Pettito which pissed off Saban) but He has size and quickness but is void of technique and motor (both can be taught). In games this year he stood straight up and didn’t leave a 5 yard circle. Typically a 5 Star is expected to play or start immediately. Much like Alexander, he will need significant coaching, training, and increased “want to.” He does have the tremendous size and speed which would make him a future NFL Star if he is coached up.

Also, Smith was in these guys ears about how miserable and homesick he was in Tuscaloosa right up until he caught “the pass.” I assume he is happier there now.

Hope O has a backup plan. It’s all cool when the home school wants you, but it’s something totally different when Saban walks through those doors. The kid has to decide if he wants to play for the home school or go play for championships.

It has been said on here several times already that Sopsher's Dad does not like Bama, at all.

I hope that's true...but money talks at the end of the day.

Orly? Then why was EVERY single LM class, other than the first year with his late start and only signing 13 kids ranked higher than O's first full year class? Les might have had shortcomings, but getting the talent in the door, other than at one notable position, was not the issue.

Was just reading this.

"Aranda’s wide-ranging interview with The Advocate centered on a defensive front that this program needed to rebuild. In fact, many believe LSU’s defensive front seven — and not quarterback — is the reason for the dip that began after the 2011 season, a downward spiral that led to the firing of former coach Les Miles in 2016."

"Tigers signed most D-linemen in a class since at least 2004"

"beefed up what is overwhelmingly thought to be the one area separating the Southeastern Conference from all other leagues: depth, speed and size on the defensive front."

"We had to address some deficiencies up front just in numbers. I think we did that,” Aranda said. “The ability to reload through the course of a game (with) our front seven, to feel good about who’s there and what they’re doing and to not miss a beat from when you started the game, that cannot be overvalued."

LSU DC Dave Aranda says Tigers' signing class restocked a pivotal area: the defensive front

Les Miles went for style points instead of recruiting what LSU actually needed. Give me a break.

Btw, if you're a coach at a hs in louisiana, you have a pass to games if you want to go. At least that's what all of our coaches did on Saturdays at Christian life when I was there. They all went to the games and had a pass to get in and were on the field before the games during warm ups etc. Idk where they watched the game, but they had access to every game. Michael clayton was already there as a wr at lsu. We had one of the top recruit's in the country at olb in Rufus alexander, and he was solid on Oklahoma and ended up going there but was between OU and Bama bc our head coach at the time played ball at Bama, we did have Kielland Williams at rb too on our team at that time, but he was only an 8th grader at the time and played freshman/jv ball, but he was a big time prospect even then you could tell he was gonna be good. We had ChiJuan mack as a wr, but he ended up going to Oklahoma state. It didn't have anything to do with that though, I pretty sure any hs coaches in Louisiana get passes to the lsu games.

O has every opportunity to earn his paycheck with this class. Go out and make it happen big O. Prove to me you are indeed *not* a potato.
