Sounds good.

quote:

Coach of 5-star DT Ishmael Sopsher: Players ‘ecstatic’ with interest from LSU

quote:

“Speaking on LSU, that’s the flagship,” Amite coach Zephaniah Powell told “Sports Today” on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge. “When Ishmael and Devonta got those offers, they were ecstatic. They virtually came running into my office, ‘Hey, coach, LSU offered me.’ “

quote:

Powell said Orgeron was at Amite High recruiting Sopsher and Lee at 7 a.m. the day the recruiting period opened. He also acknowledged that not only Orgeron but “pretty much everybody on (LSU’s) staff” has been to Amite to recruit his players.

quote:

I kind of want to put something to bed,” Powell said. “Everybody thinks where we’re located, because we have a young man that is playing at the University of Alabama, that we’re pro- this school or pro- that school. That’s completely false. That’s not the case. Our kids, they’re completely open to every university.

“But the flagship — the flagship — is where a lot of our kids are looking to go right now because of Coach Orgeron, because of what he’s doing and what he’s trying to accomplish.”

Kardell will be on it very soon if he isn't already and I'm sure he already is.

This is good news regarding how the coach feels and how these 2 player's feel regarding the Flagship.

However, it is not spin to say that we have had trouble in certain parts of the State - North Louisiana and Tangi as examples.

The past is water under the bridge.

The door is still open to LSU and we need to capitalize.

We truly need Sopsher and at least 1 of the 2 wr in this parish.

Yeah there will be some come through and imply the coach is in the take. Just the nature of a faction of our fanbase

This dude has to say this because not only is he an employee of the state, he wants to be invited to LSU events, and wants offers for his players that Bama doesnt want. Im not saying LSU has no shot with these players. All I am saying is that Amite has very well known Bama handlers around that area that are given full access to these players year round.

yes we have. this won't be received well on this board but Orgeron really did have to rebuild this team. it remains if he can do it but at least the effort to recruit the trenches is a start. of course we need a QB even tho we probably have two damn good ones already. in a state the size of Louisiana it is very difficult to put together "complete" classes and it seems we have been shy of certain quality positions for a while now. remember our LB situation? our DL situation? it seems that both he and Aranda have greatly upgraded those two important positions. the OL is still a work in progress but I see a huge emphasis in recruiting there and our new coach is supposed to be one of the best.

in short, a complete team is within our grasp and if we get there we will again be a force in the conference and nation no matter how much some people like to remind us every hour how much they hate Orgeron.

Bama would be around anyway. That's the part some just don't want to get through their heads. What are the coaches supposed to try to shut Bama out? That is an injustice to the kids. There are handlers everywhere, in every state so its just part of the process. Trust me when I tell you we aren't exactly innocent in dealing with handlers. The Lyles guy from Texas was a regular on campus, as was Genron from FL. Actually pictures with Les Miles. Orgeron is no stranger to that side of recruiting. You can't avoid them if you're going to recruit the best of the best.
Our biggest issue, and I've said it for years, our folks expect a discount or free pass with instate kids and that just doesn't hold up by longer. If a kid, or some close, are on the take, you have to be willing to play ball or just stop recruiting that kid. No excuses.

I have a source in Tangipahoa. A head coach or former HC. A prominent name.
What he tells me about what goes on in Amite is alarming.
It is often alluded to here.
Not trying to be pessimistic or degrade anybody.
I have zero specific information on Sopsher. Repeat. Zero.
But my eyes are open to what is occurring there off that HS campus.
In related news, there is another player in that parish that we should feel really good about.

Coaching staff has never been the issue, it's outside influences, barber, Petitto, etc...

Your a dumbass. O will help change that impression by hands on activity. Miles was yoo damn relaxed and accepting. fricking hiring a POS DC that wouldn't go out and help? That put MUCH more of a time constraint in those that did recruit. It hurt us bad in every way and let others in the door.

Thats not what Alleva and O sold the fanbase on when they hired O. So either they straight up lied to us to hire him, or were too stupid to realize it was a rebuild job. Pick one, those are the only 2 options.

Good news on Sopsher. There's no secret about Bama's influence in that area so pulling Sopsher and Devonta will pay future dividends if we break that influence.

On a side note, lets all keep this about recruiting and the players and not a battle of the different O factions.

It has been said on here several times already that Sopsher's Dad does not like Bama, at all. I don't have a source other than what I've picked up on reading posts from guys that most on here trust. At this point, I do not expect Sopsher to end up in enemy territory.

NO, he did not have to say a word. If he doesn't want to do an interview, he doesn't do one.

he wants to be invited to LSU events

How many LSU events have you seen him at?

I know very little about Amite. I have no idea where it is located in the state of Louisiana. But I know the barber has moved to Georgia.

Anything else negative you want to throw out?
