We only have room for four more. Gonna miss out on two of the big six still on our board, unfortunately. The grad transfer kicker ended up counting against the 25 hard cap. I just hope we actually end up getting four of the kids we want.

Since we have 2 RB , I would prefer Chase, Surtain, Joseph, and Goodrich. Looks like next year is a good one for RB in the state as well.

I don't think Joiner is going to happen. He's likely the odd man out. I think the staff feels it will be fine with CEH, Brossette, baby Fournette, Curry and Provens. Joiner would likely take a year or two to develop and by 2019 we could have Emerey, Tyrion Davis and/or Noah Cain. We may get 2/3 and all are likely better than any RBs we currently have.

Chase, Surtain, Joseph, and Goodrich is a good mix, but may get a rb and drop one.

I think these are the primary targets. If these four want to sign them I believe the only player that can make one of these the odd man out is Foster. I think we are in the best available mode now unless the QB wants in.

I really really want Joiner, but honestly I think we're okay at RB with what we return, signing Curry ad Provens, and with a likely epic 2019 RB class, we will be fine at the position. I'll be happy with a finish of Chase, Surtain, Goodrich, and Joseph, which would be a very realistic finish too.

Why is that? 25 allows for 1 recruit at every position and a few extras (ST or attrition needs). The overall scholly limit is 85 TOTAL. So teams are already 15 over that if they sign their 25 and have ZERO attrition (of course, not realistic).

So would you prefer the limit be 26, 27, ... 30? Or no limit as it was in Bear Bryant’s days? Where does it make sense to you?

There really isn't a hard cap. Applying EEs to the previous class is still allowed if you were under the cap that class. What has changed is the way they count them, which over time can lead to fewer overall recruits being signed. For example, graduate transfers now count and they didn't before. Another is if a recruit fails to qualify. Before you could replace him with an EE in the following class, but now you can't. This is manageable, but if you are not careful, it is easier to put yourself on an effective self-probation.

Agreed. I really want Harold Joiner too, but with the RB's LSU will be in line for in 2019, I think it's more important to take Goodrich given the choice. It really sucks that the grad-transfer kicker counts against the 25 cap, otherwise, I'm sure Joiner would be coming here.

A WR corps that includes Terrace Marshall AND JaMarr Chase will make me very, very happy.

nobody is listening to us. The hard cap narrative has taken a life of its own. I don't think people will understand the fallacy of it until nsd when they see teams sign more than 25.

As much as I hate to say it I think I would choose Foster over Chase myself.

I would not say that we have plenty of wr because none of them are proven at all on the college level but my concern for the depth and stability of the position is much higher at QB.

JMO but I would have Chase rated higher as a player but would choose Foster based on value of position/need/his skill set.

This is how I would have the final 6 rated.

1. Surtain Jr
2. Goodrich (value at wr and another tall cb)
3. Joseph (s or cb)
4. Chase (as a player - see above)
5. Foster (see above)
6. Joiner

1. Surtain (the next Patrick Peterson)

2. Chase or alternatively Watkins
3. Goodrich
4. Joseph
5. Joiner
