Top players look at our depth chart and know they'll be riding the bench for 2-3 years if they come here.
Eventually this will"catch-up" with us. For example, it's gonna be hard for us to sign a top-shelf QB this year. Why? Because we just signed a 5* (RS) and 4* (CG) last year and there are two other 4*'s (JJ and JL) ahead of them.
On the other hand, we need a RB in this upcoming class (losing Keiland and Charles Scott).

I agree with most of the responses in this thread.
There are a litany of reasons working for Auburn and Alabama and against LSU:
1) We had a bad season last year.
2) We have more talent, thus less PT to offer than both of those schools.
3) Auburn's new coaches can tell recruits anything they want, no track record to prove they suck.... yet
I believe that both may finish with better classes than us according to Rivals and Scout. We should still finish in the top 15 and address our team needs.
Long story short, Auburn needs to recruit better than us for half a decade to be a threat, and what do you want me to say? As long as Saban is at Bama, the west is a two team race. I'm fine with that. I believe we get the best of him more often than not.

These are great points. Another good thing to remember is that we lost a great coach in Pelini and put twop better recruiters in his stead. We all saw how that worked out. LSU does not need to worry about recruiting. As long as our coaches keep us on top, people will come here.

We had the number one class last year, and will have a top five this year. Right now, there are 100 plus kids on our radar and they are the best of the best around the SE and SW. Chances are LSU, BAMA, Auburn, TN, GA, and Florida will have good recruting seasons most years.

do you really believe those bums were promoted for recruiting ability and not just because they were BBQ buddies of Les?

to the original question, NO.
On the topic, the SEC has been sick in nationwide recruiting lately, and the trend will continue.

AU can sell the early playing time bit as well as the 'be a part of turning things around'. Same thing Kiffin is selling at UT.
This is the same thing Saban did as well as take credit for Miles success when he first got to Bama. Bama gets fricking lucky with the damn league underachieving in '08 and they are just reaping the benefits. If I was a Bama fan I would be over joyed with the league play last year and the media's constant stupid obsession with Saban(I think he is an elite coach, but not a god).

Yep it was all luck it had nothing to do with Saban being a good coach. I guess LSU should take away that 2003 Championship because it never really happened cause Saban is a terrible coach he couldn't have made it to the Championship game.

It's not how you start,it's how you finish.

It seems every recruit LSU is trying to get down here is making definite plans to visit Bama and/or Auburn this spring and "hope" to make it down to LSU some time this summer.
