My sons team plays them this week. I've watched some of the Hudl film from their games and while he is very fast and has pretty good size I really don't see anything about this guy that shows he's SEC material. He's really not that aggressive or shown to be a game changer from what i've seen. I guess LSU figures you can't teach speed and they can coach him to be in the position he needs to make plays.

A lot of times coaches recruit potential.

Well, those are two good qualities to start with

He had over 200 tackles last year as a high school sophomore. What do you think qualifies as a game changer?

He was all over the field last game and made good reads, he doesn’t have a lot of help around him. With the season he had last year, teams are going to scheme away from him

I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think he played in the first game against General Trass. I know he got into it with one of his coaches the Wednesday before the game and was told to go home during practice

Edit: I was wrong he did play. Not sure how many tackles he had against General Trass but he had 14 against West Ouachita last week

What did it say

Not Lester's finest moment.

I'm not going to repeat it because it was a totally uncalled for comment about a high school player (not Atkins, but the son of the guy he was responding to).

It was a legit, boy that escalated fast, moment.

Just going to reiterate what’s already been said…

If he has speed and size, most other things can be taught. No offense to his coaches, but I’d argue that a major program like lsu has better coaches than J Hodge. If they see him that highly, they should be able to mold him into whatever they want.

Maybe he pans out, maybe he doesn’t. However, he’s a commit that will most likely be a 2 year commit, our elite coaches view him as having immense upside. Which is good enough for me.

He plays in 2A so smaller schools but as a SO he was first team all state. He will be in the top 8 to 12 next year in the state. Defiantly a take but may be a project.

No. That is out the window when u have over 200. That’s a video game number. If you have that many tackles you are flying g all over the field.

He’s on a pitiful team, once coached up and 20lbs of muscle and nutrition, he will be a player at LSU. He had over 200 tackles last year, I don’t care who u play, that’s over 20 a game the other team sometimes only ran 40 plays. He’s raw athletic player waiting to be coached.
