Little Nicky doesn't have to know shite. He has people tell him what they can get away with, and then there is an entire operation behind the scenes that makes it happen. He stays purposefully ignorant about that part of recruiting in case something ever gets looked into.

Bama has always been doing this since Saban got there - voluntary withdrawals, cutting players. medical hardships and such. The transfer portal has only made the transfers more transparent.
